Exactly, read the manual that comes with the sub that you buy and it will tell you...other than that, sealed boxes pound alot harder, more of a risk of blowing the sup too since there isn't much space for the air to go...Also the ported box is alot more clear, but still pounds close to the same as a sealed one, not to mention its louder. ported is the best way to go I find, as long as the sub works good with it.
which subwoofer ported or sealed gives you more of that deep tone outside of the car?
sealed= tight and accurate bass, takes more power to push em' too
vented or ported= deep, less power to make em hit.
I tried for a little while in mine, but its extremely hard to get it into the trunk, downfiring can add up too a 3db gain to your existing setup (in a perfect world) it front end loads the sub for

Wrong. Sealed boxes sond more clear and ported boxes hit harder. Sealed boxes sound more musical and ported boxes are peaky sounding.
i don't know if my last reply went through, had the wrong window open...but anyways
I find that its the opposite, but then again it depends the music I listen too...When i listen to rap its what you say...but I find when i listen to my techno or drum n bass, its the opposite
well in MY experience,... sealed does give tighter bass, and tends to take more power for a great sound outside... and ported, well i use slot vented, gives louder bass, especially inside the cabin, and yes, takes less power to hit hard... but it also depends on the sub, i.e.- size, wattage, excursion, etc, etc...as well as the amp your going to use... so if you provide more info on what you gonna use, we could all give u a better opinion... hope i helped...holla
ok, that's a lil better...but what series is the sub? the wattage? and your box, is it fairly small, with a cardboard roll as the port, like a papertowel roll? and 200 watts, in my opinion, isn't enough to power a subwoofer...u should try a bigger amp...
oo my sub is fairly large for a single sub i had two but couldnt fit the port is made of hard plastic tubing and the sub im using is a old competion c10a kicker its pounds with the amp im using
your set-up seems to be okay if your clarion amp is true 200 watts rms, and is clean power. try building a new box with a slot port tuned to between 38- 42 Hz. Call up Kicker and ask for tech support, they'll be able to tell you exactely how big to build your box depending on your listening preferences. Just my .02
