Ok I have this ticking noise when the car is running now. Its not to loud but not a really steady tick. It sometimes will make a tick then it will be quit then start up a little later. When it hit about 900-1000 RPMS is gone. I know before it only did it for maybe 2 minutes at the most on cold start up. I know the previous owner had them checked out because I got the hole stack of service papers. I know they were not replaced, so they are the original ones. It only has 58,400 miles one the car.
How hard are these to replace? or would it be better to take into a shop to have done?

I dont think its the belts at all. It comes from the middle of the motor. I was in awile ago to chrysler and they said it was the lifters, but never got the price to fix.

Lifters them selfs easy. The timing you'll have to do to get the car back together not so easy.
You have to remove the plug wires, then the coil pack, then the valve cover, the timing belt, the camshafts, and then the rockers. The lifters just "lift" out.
Putting it back together is the trick though. It'll all go together great, until you get to the timing belt. If you decide to do it or have someone else do it, get your water pump changed right away.

Mod List. Um WAY too many to fit on here. But the engine can handle about 800HP
Although it isn't that important to what I was needing to know...I wasnt saying it was belts.....just that was it ticking or a tap noise like the frequency of something stuck in the belts.
The purge solenoid is in the right front wheelwell ahead of the liner...and ticks all the time at idle when it is warmed up. The minute you gap the throttle it stops.
IO'd pull the valve cover and check for plugged restricted oil passages found several on another members car ... Proper lubrication quiets them right down ... Especially if the previous owner used Quaker Sludge ... Errr Quaker State
I don't know what kind ol f oil the previous owner used. I know he did none of the work at all to the car, the local Chrysler dealer did it all.
I have switched it over to synthetic oil, its been running it now almost 6500 miles. Change my oil every 3000 miles. It made all the same noise before, but they are a little better after the switch. Its running Mobil 1 full synthetic using a mopar filter. its the 6 cyl.
Would trying a different brand of oil help? I think I might have to pull the valve cover off and check like Bad Venge said, I have to do the spark plugs soon anyways.
If I can get a video clip of that making noise, I will post it if the camera works for me.
