Anyone got the drivebelt diagram for 2.0L DOHC Engine?
« on: August 26, 2007, 01:22:59 AM »

I took the belt off and need to put it back on but don't have a diagram. I know its suppost to be on the hood but I can't find the diagram anywhere. So if someone has a book with it, I would be greatly appreciated.

It's kind of self explanatory. It only fits one way.

nice helping guys..

The alternator belt is closest to the engine.. and just goes around the alternator..

The accessory belt is around the crank, overtop of the power steering pump, behind the idler pulley, over the ac compressor.. and back to the crank.

Here ya go. i'm a little late, but as long as it's not dynamite, better late than never.

This is the book. I prefer a Chiltons but any helpful info is better than no info.

This is your basic routing just as Admin typed out, but in picture form. lol. be sure you line up the belts right. This is to save you time later re-doing it. You'll know when you go to put the outer belt [A/C] on.

The alternator belt should only go around the crank but the A/C will go around the idler and power steering pump. Just remember that the idler will have the flat side of the belt against it.

And you two should remember the first time's you touched an automotive item. I'm sure you made mistakes and wished that you hadn't. Remember those. Remember them hard.

only because the alternator is in the back. since you don't really have to worry about the A/C and PS pulleys [since they are driven by the same belt], you don't have to worry about the placement of those 2 pulleys. not to mention that the pulleys have different ribs.

To qoute you..... meh.

The pic of the book and the paint drawing are basically the same thing. Both show the idler in the correct place.

how is he going to learn if he doesn't try to do it himself.   Maybe he wasn't born with all the automotive knowledge in the world like you jackhole.
cut the guy some slack.  You don't have to be an ass.

and Jesus would know how the belt was routed.

I found out the hard way cuz i revved up to 6500 rpm because an out of state 03+ lexus wouldn't move over 1 lane into the turn lane instead of turning from the middle of the road. I slung both belts off b/c the mechanic who put them on several months earlier [before i owned it] didn't tighten them up properly. Thankfully, they didn't land in the road. they stayed on the pulley.

And JBI, i've seen mechanics charge $600 for a brake job. We have one here in Calhoun who does that. I can't afford $600 when i need my brakes changed or a belt replaced. That's why the DIY exists. When automobiles were first invented, the purchaser was the mechanic. Eventually, people realized that not everyone had a nack for it and began a business of being Automobile Mechanics. Alot of people that COULD do the work, didn't have the time and it was alot easier to simply pay someone to work on your car, while you were at work.
