I'm not sure about stock, but if the V6 uses the same Setup as the 4cyl, you can use an energy suspension system for an eclipse if it has the necessary bushing.

Alright everyone, I am going to attempt to document exactly what fits from the eclipse master bushing set on an FJ22.

I have the hyperflex master set coming from energy suspension...with the add on sway bar bushings.  The guy at Suspension Restoration said that noone has run an Avenger in and put everything from an Eclipse on yet...Why do I not stick to the center more!

I-4 & V-6 has the same suspension as the Eclipse. Those bushings will fit perfectly fine.

yeah, only thing is the sway bar bushing size which isn't a big deal. the es or lxi had a 19mm bar, the eclipse rs had a 16mm bar. i'm not sure but i think the gs had a bar larger than 16mm. which sway bar bushings did they recommend?

just be prepared for a lot of work. but i hope you do it, i never had the nuts to do it myself.

Thanks Downer, I measured the sway bars...the 95 v6 ES I am working on has 19mm front and 15 mm rear. There are 15, 16, 18, and 19 ava. I ordered the 5. 18107 kit and the 5.5130 sway bar bushings for the front and 5.5146 for the rear. I may not replace the front lower control arm bushings at first since I just had them both replaced under the recall. The rear control arm bushings on both sides at the top and the top a-frame pivots are a memory this weekend though along with the sway bar bushings.
Also plan to r&r the trans for a front pump seal, Then new platinum plugs, spark plug tube seals VC gaskets and an intake set. I love a three day weekend!

On the plugs, run only NGK. I'm running the Iridium's in mine and I DID notice a difference in the ... i guess you'd say 'solidness' of the idle and the way the engine felt while accelerating. I got the NGK Iridiums for free so I can't complain at all [normally $7/plug]

This is the Spark Plug thread we had a year ago when i still worked at Advance Auto
Why you should just use NGK and get it over with

And to dig up more skeletons, this is why you shouldn't use Fram [in case you do read this and be horrified once it all sinks in]
Oh the slow, silent horror of it all....

I might be blind, but you still haven't answered the engine size question:
2.0L 420A 4cyl
2.5L 6G73 6cyl

Yes I have platinum NGK's sitting here waiting for the new spark plug tube seals. I also here that the plug wires need to be excellent...or they might contribute to the early demise of the distributor mounted coil!

Ok. Here's the deal. when it comes to plug wires, 8mm is all you need unless you are building a 500HP+ car...... The 6G73 cannot get there in under $2K.

Things to look for:

  • If there is plug wire A at $19.99/set with a lifetime warranty, the wire is crap.
  • If there is plug wire B at $35.99+, with a lifetime warranty, I bet you it's a name brand.
  • Parts stores aren't always trying to 'get your money'. Just talk to me or Nykon [NAPA General Manager]. We suggest what we would put on our car.
  • Ask the sales person if they would use it on their car. If they drive a busted POS, get another sales person.

If a company doesn't make spark plugs, the 9/10 times, they aren't going to be able to make a proper plug wire. You would have better luck using speaker wire.

I have finished installing the upper and  lower rear control arm bushings from the Eclipse kit. Everything fits perfect. Also got the front and rear sway bar bushings installed. What a difference it made. This car handles like a slot car.

I need to put the large body mount for the toe control strut on still, that should make a marked diff also. I will whittle away at this on the front in the near future but have put off the timing belt as long as I dare.

I have a powerpoint showing every step of the way if anyone is interested.
