My tranny is crazy. Ive noticed that you guys (and gals) keep talking about limp mode.... What exactly is that? Either way, I got my computer read and it is telling me that selenoid E in the transmission is bad. I have no idea where it is. Is it a circuit, or just an actual selenoid? Also my transmission is making this weird whinning noise. Any ideas?

Limp mode is when your car stays in second gear. It gives you enough Gearing to Get going and give a half decent speed to get to a shop

Well, it sure isnt that cause it will barely kick into first. You have to sit there and rev the engine up to about 3 or 4k rpms and then once you let it die down alittle bit, then it will usually kick into gear. But even then once its in first wont go into second. Its a huge pain to deal with.

Check the fluid level. Let the transmission get good and hot, then check the level with the engine running. I've had this exact problem before due to a high fluid level.

Thank you JBI. I saw 'check the fluid' and my heart skipped a beat. I could just imagine someone who didn't know, going to autozone and the 'autozoner' selling them a quart or two of Dexron III and then their transmission getting effed up from it.
The A604 is a VERY picky transmission, as are all 90+ Chrysler Transmissions:
ATF+4 ONLY
Or you'll need to get to know your local transmission shop owner on a first name basis.

Mopar ATF plus 3 is fine for these cars. plus 4 is the same base stock as vane style high pressure pump hydraulic fluid loaded with friction modifier for the clutches. It is overkill in most stock type applications. The plus 3 has the same amount of friction modifier and works fine. The exception is any car that had Plus 4 as the factory fill.

i would have included that, however, when i worked at Advance Auto, we pulled ALL the ATF+3 because the ATF+4 was available on the market and our main supplier [Valvoline] was no longer going to manufacture the +3 for consumer sales.

Shi,
How much was ATF4 at Advance? If it is close to the same price I would run that in everything also.

Last time i checked when i worked there [Feb] it was right at 4.98/qt [Valvoline W/ Shudder protection]
I recommend it. Nykon probably knows of something that is better, however i rarely see him in the V6 sections
