What to do... Found an almost complete Avenger
« on: August 03, 2007, 07:41:16 AM »

Went to the local junkyard and found an all black avenger w/ gray cloth interior (great shape i may add), a running engine, and basically mark free except for some fading on the roof and trunk. Not sure if the frame's bent but for some reason the guy cut from the back of the headlights straight down... So whole new front end. That's about it... Guy only wants $300 for it...

Car: !998 Avenger ES

V6, All Options, Infinity System.

you could always pick it up for a parts car or ask him why it is there (tranny?)  Tho these cars are getting cheaper and cheaper.  If the frame is ok then you could always drive one and mod the other like crazy.  It's up to you and how much space, need (for parts) and spare cash you have.

Well it's not in bad shape whatsoever... Just a new front end and a paint job is all it really needs.  Sebring could be the all show car and the avenger the all go car lol. Wink

i say buy, if you have the dough! $300 is a great price for a drivable car. you can decide if you wanna part it out or fix it up after the fact. if all else fails sell it for $400 or $500  Wink

Yeah the frame's not bent on it. Just found out... It's located in Hopwood Pa... Hey aren't the gray cloth seats and interior hard to find?

It's starting to look good there JBI. I like the blue on the intake there. nice touch.

anyhoo.

One problem you will run into is that you will need to title the Avenger if you rebuild it. especially if it ever sees the asphalt. I majorly suggest you find someone who has an avenger that DOESN'T run anymore and buy the vin plate off them and the title. not the car, just the title and vin plate. Yes this is illegal however on the rare occassion pursuing the right course demands an act of slight illegality, slight illegality itself can be the right course [what movie?].

The guy that sold me my Avenger is a self sacrificing good guy. He wanted a Del Sol but couldn't find one so he settled for a Civic EX. He bought it from a body shop that had it for sale under a mechanics lien. problem was, the shop was having difficulty getting the title. It seems that the person who previously owned the car had pawned the title and skipped out on both bills. Since the title pawn had occured first, it took precident. He found out which one had the title and called them. They wanted him to bring the car to them on a set date so that they could 'inspect' the car and sign the paperwork over to him so that he could continue paying on the balance due where it was left.

He's not that stupid.

He had a friend who had a 95 LX and sold him the plate and title. they spent the night taking the old plate off, grinding the vins and putting the new plate on. Then they spent the next night painting it a flat black. lol.
