Its so crazy, 60 feet all those cars dropped. 25 cars on each side, during rush hour. Its crazy to think I take that bring around that time everyday but I had the day off so I didnt have too. 20-30 still missing or trapped in cars still, only 4 dead so far and 70+ hurt. Anyone else live in minneapolis?

I have a cousin, her hubby and her son all living there.  She takes that bridge everyday and a lot of the injured are going to the hospital where she works (she does psychology along with her hubby).  They are all safe.. don't know about their friends last I heard from my Aunt.  Hope everyone you know is ok!

On our local news they are freaking out because Portland has at least 10 major bridges.  Nothing like making the whole city afraid to drive across the river.

well everyone is saying there is over 70,000 bridges that were rated the same as that bridge. It could happen somewhere else and why not stop the problem before he happens to other city. Its so sad, all those people dropping and just trying to get home to their fam. Its just really sad that 20-30 people are missing or laying there dead under a block or in the water.

They were talking on CNN about the Chesapeke Bay Bridge in Maryland and about how scary it is for people to drive.  While it is a freaky bridge to drive over it's not too bad and I don't like bridges much at all.  My Mom who is fine to drive over the Bay Bridge sweated it once when a friend told her .. oh just look.. you drive up to it and it turns and you just look like you drop off the face of it.  It can also be scary to drive over it when it's windy.  But any road can be scary when you think a sink hole can just open up at any point.. it's all about perspective.

Ohio's DOT is scrambling to re-inspect all of the major bridges in my district. One of my construction inspectors is part of the bridge inspection team, and he was called back to hit his areas again just to be sure.

I have seen the condition of a few of the major bridges in Ohio leading into Kentucky across the Ohio River....lets just say HOLY CRAP they look bad! The bottoms of the pier columns are showing reinforcing steel, which means at least 3-4 inches of concrete has fallen off!

All of the contractors wonder why I am always bitching about specifications on my projects. Its pretty obvious that I don't want my name associated with anything that fails.

its sad that this happened but in a way it is good now we know that there are potential problems with the bridges in the country so hopefully this will never happen again. Black Venge man how crazy is it that you just happended to have the day off...

everything happens for a reason....but anyway, enough with the philosophy. Not a fan of bridges..many lives got ruined by that incident...how will ppl recover?...u think the gov't will give ppl what they lost?...ie. absorbing a pay cut of a "couple" dollars..if that?
