1997 Avenger, bad tranny
« on: July 31, 2007, 10:00:37 PM »

Avenger, you've seen me through four years of college, three girlfriends, two concussions, eight states and six tires. Why, why O Lord, did your transmission have to start slipping?

In any case, I don't have the cash for a new tranny, and I'd rather not have my wonderful machine chopped up by some dirty dealership. Here's the stats, let me know what you think.

Price: Haven't given it much thought. Any honest suggestions?

Location: Binghamton, NY

Pictures: I can take some if there is some legitimate interest - standard black gloss, some character-adding denting.

Contact information: Right here is best, or saouderkirk (at) yahoo (dot) com

Condition: Great condition besides the transmission - rear struts less than a year old, new tires, new wheels (from a Talon that had a bad tranny, ironically). Brakes good, all else never gave me trouble.

Engine/Tranny type: V6 Automatic

Miles: 104k

Mods: Nothing worth much, new door speakers?

Thoughts? Any suggestions, even? This was my first car, and I'm pretty unsure as to where to go from here.

That sucks man.  Sorry you have to let it go.  No chance of just dropping in a new tranny?  How much are you looking at spending on the next car?

Mod List.  Um WAY too many to fit on here.  But the engine can handle about 800HP

No cash for a new transmission, I have a couple possible rebuilt tranny possibilities, but it's doubtful it'll be within my budget.

Doesn't look like I can even afford a new car - I'm working three jobs now, but come September the ol' Masters program will be dominating my time, thus, can't make payments. Looks like I'll be bussing it for a while.

You're sig says it's painful being so new, but I think this situation is even more painful.

If you wanna hold on to it for awhile I'm getting a '98 Venge as a parts' car... If somebody else doesn't take the tranny I'm sure I could cut you a really nice price for it...
