Change Plugs, filters (air, fuel), oil and filter. Get your fuel injectors cleaned. Take it to a shop and have them hook it up to a machine, it runs a high pressure cleaner through the system and cleans everything up. If you have a clogged injector it can drip or it won't atomize the fuel enough and it won't ignite properly.
Change your o2 sensors.
Drive moderately, don't floor it all the time, don't drive like a granny either. The more freeway driving you do, the better your mileage will be. Stop and go kills you. If you are going to be stopped for a while, shut the motor off. It takes less gas to start a motor than to sit there and idle for a minute. Don't use your accessories. Turn of your stereo, A/C, fan, wipers, headlights, or anything else that causes more drag on your system.
You will get better mileage at a higher speed with a lower rpm. The less hard your engine has to work, the less fuel it will burn.

I could be totally wrong, or reading it totally wrong but it sounds like you have an overdrive issue Overdrive usually shifts about 40-42 unless ur foot is really into it
Because I know when Im going 45 its about 1,600 rpm, give or take a little. 55 running about 1900-2000 rpm

2,000 depending on what gear is 25-35 give or take 1000rpm 45 is about 2500
And i would love to get that done if i could afford to even buy ONE spark plug...IM BROKE!...
there's ur issue...u should NOT be doing 2500 rpm at 45 mph. thats 1.66(continuous) times what u should be doing at that speed..u could have some tranny issues..hope not.
When you hit the OD switch on and off does the light turn on and off? If it does not then that might be your problem then. Never know it could be a wire issue with your switch then.

Listen about transmissions... You said that at 42 it should be at 1600? Unless my speedo is off a lil' or my tranny's in really good shape, at 42mph i read 1450rpm and at 45 i read 1550rpm... Anybody?
