you know where i stand on Pioneer now, Kenwood is good, Clarion used to be good back in the day but anymore... Sony's are big pieces of poo, and alpine you get what you pay for. I paid less for this deck than my stupid Avic and it has sooo many more features and is sooo much better, not to mention the sound quality has drastically improved.

to tell you the truth i havent put a disk in my h/u in more than a year cause i have the ipod interface. i love it to death but the only problem i have with it is the conector that goes into the ipod. it will play fine but then when i touch it or open my glove box(i ran it there) it will disconect(not the wire itself) and say STOP on the h/u. Nykon would you know anything about that
Ok.. Answer me this.. Have ANY of you Run a Sony Deck in the last 3 years.. If not you guys are complete idiots.. They were excrement up until about 3 years ago.. Then they started putting out good quality work that Rivals Alpine(yes I said it) My dad has a Sony deck and its absolutly Gorgeous.. Nothing special. I regret buying my Kenwood and I will never buy alpine
Yea.. But how many of those bad reps were from people who have never used them. Or Car audio guys who have never installed them(Yea. I had a few guys who had never seen a sony deck give them a bad rep)
Just because people say somthing sucks doesnt mean it does. Like cmon.. Alot of people on ASEC give ASOG(And Visa Versa) a bad rep.. Does it mean we suck and we arent reliable.

It cost me 250 Canadian for the deck and it didnt have the pre-outs I needed. I woul dhave had to pay another 100 to get the pre-outs. SO. I went with a Kenwood deck for the same price(regret that too) because my Dad got a Sony with More features for less.

Sony is a great deck for someone that wants looks over sound quality. The quality isn't bad, but it's not as good as Alpine. You will pay a lot more for Alpine because you're paying for the reputation and the assurance that it will beat anything else in it's class. They are usually one of the last ones to come out with the "Newest" thing because the do WAY more research than any other company out there.
I have almost ten years experience installing systems. The systems you run is always about you, what do you want out of it. I want functionality and clarity, I buy Alpine. I spent a buttload of money on my set up, and it won't hit as hard as something half the price that the 16 year old next to me has, but mine will last longer and has MUCH better SQ.

I concur. My alpine sounds soo much better than my Pioneers ever did, and I actually did pay less cause now I have the hookup. Not to mention longevity, the deck I am giving to Matt, other than the buttons being worn a bit has never failed to do anything it is supposed to. I had problems with my stupid pioneer N1 almost out of the box, the replacement was great till I hooked up some amps.
If you didn't have the preouts you needed you should have done more research on the deck you needed.

and yeah, Sony are crap, got Xplode H/U in my car from my bud's truck (replaced my OEM stereo)... lol i could "hear" my engine's RPMs somehow there will be a quite whistling sounds (not high pitch) which gets louder or quieter depending on RPMs
