new wheels , :(
« on: June 08, 2007, 01:41:10 AM »

alright so I bought these wheels from a guy next door . They came from a 300Z  , and they are wrapped in kumho tires. he wanted only 200 for them so I was like hell yea. Well now I'm like HELL NO!!!! I put them on  went for a drive and the wheels are getting loose. Any Idea why this may be. I looked on the internet and found that the 300z use a diff lug. would that make a diff???My dad just told me to get some lockin nuts , but I would rather know what is up first. peace guys. and thanks for any comments.

They probably use a different lug nut and they may not be the right size and offset.

Your wheels

17X7 5-100/114 42SM

300ZX
17X8 5-114.3 28BR

well this is where I got my info http://www.discountedwheelwarehouse.com/Dodge___Vehicle_Bolt_Pattern_Reference.cfm

Now this could be wrong but it says that both are 5-114.3

but the lug is 12x1.5 to 12x1.25

I'm just hoping I did not buy them for nothing  Undecided

that would explain why. the lugs for the nissan are bigger..therefore the ones for the sebring wont fill the holes properly...while driving they move around causing the nuts to go loose..they wont fall off..but they will wear pretty bad dangerous for u..it could cause the rim to crack...and the likes.

possible solution is to look for lugs from different cars that have same thread and size

or ditch the rims

there should be some lugs that will fit. and no it is very dangerous to have that bouncing around like that it will destryoy your hub and really wreak havok on the rotors and drums i promise you it will warp the living hell out of the rotors at least if you drive on them continously. sell the rims for 300 or a little more if you can is my advice. i guarantee that someone will buy them

to late I already F-ed up my car HA HA HA  Cheesy , Went to autozone to get some new lugnuts right. well I did not even look what they gave me. Did not even notice it til I took off the Nuts THEY GAVE ME TO SMALL OF LUGS!!!!! See I was askin on what they thought of the situation right. And I guess because I told him what it came off of he gave me that nut. So I totally stripped the studs on my driver side  Roll Eyes. So looks like I'm going to have to replace the studs now. Now I think the front will not be so bad ( thought I  never have done it ) but pretty much you just have to knock them out. But the rear ( drum ) you have to miss with the bearings and I really dont feel like that.........But we will have to see. I went back up to autozone and told the guy he was a tard. But so was I for not noticing before I put them on.  Also I think I found out what is the problem. See that centerlip of the hub ( dont know the name ) it is not fitting in the center of the wheel so It is not sitting correctly. That is why I believe. But also those are some wide tires. But I maybe selling them to a buddy. for his rims also. peace guys , Keep you updated - will be taking the studs out tomarrow or sunday. later
