Well buying a second alternator + building the mounts+ belts + doubling the drag+ adding more heat in an already cramped engine compartment does sound MUCH better then laying down $300 for a bigger alternator ...
it wont double the drag its only going to drag as much power as you consume, so with 2 it will split the drag between the two have equal amount of drag as one but doubling the current. plus $300 vs. free alt. free bracket and $11 belt and some time hmmm......
Bad Venge is an Electrical Engineer. I'd listen to pretty much whatever he says about the flow of current. And he has one of the most badass venges. He's a good resource.

Oh, by the way, how do think that two alternators is going to reduce drag? If drag equals consumption, which is your basis, than all you would do is complicate the situation. Both alternators will put out the same watts per number of rpm's no matter the consumption. It either gets used or charges the battery. If to much current is drawn, it takes from the battery. That's how the circuit is designed. Twice the alternators means twice the drag, end of story. Or, get one with higher output windings and be done with it.
The highest amp alternator for our cars is what like 90 amp, 130 if you use a 3000GT/Stealth alternator and that requires some modification I think (ask DT) so max you are getting 260 amp... or you could just spend the money and get the 300 amp High Output and be done with it. If you are running a stereo that really needs 260 amps to run why are you so worried about drag and such. It is going to cause the same amount of drag because your stereo will be pulling the same amount of amperage either way. It will just be pulling it from 2 different pulleys instead of one. Hell just get a smaller diameter pulley and get the alternator to spin faster. You should be able to get some extra amperage that way.
I am not saying it can't be done, I am just saying IMO there are better options. Our alternators are hard enough to get to as it is, if you want to try to sqeeze a second one in there somewhere, by all means. Good luck, do it and prove us all F'ing wrong.
Just make sure that you do a write up and take lots of pictures.
I have the stealth/3kgt alternator in my car. And the only reason I did it was because I paid nothing for the alternator. I had to make new brackets, it wasn't THAT bad of a mod. But if you're going to spend any cash, just get the High Output.
Yes you can put two in, but have you looked at where you would mount your second one?

i never said that two would reduce the drag. i said it would split the load between the two. and anyways they only consume about 1 horse for every 25 amps produced at full operation. so if they are 90 amps 90/25=3.6, 3.6*2=7.2. so roughly 8 horse power lost thats not very much and if i was really woried about that many i would just leave the airconditioner unhooked. but thats alright i appreciate everyones concern for my horse power though i really do but since no one knows the answer to my question ill just go somewhere else and find out so dont worry about responding to this.
no my question was how to hook it up i didnt see that in any of the posts in this thread. and that was not answered. but that doesnt matter becuase i know how to do it now
someone..planning on putting 8000watts worth of music in his ride...said for two batteries you would need two alternators...didnt see how that would work..money should be spent somewhere else...and if it hadnt been said enough...a better alternator. glad u came and asked though.
Well you never mentioned the amount of current you NEED ... You also don't mention if you are running multiple batteries What the set up you are running is ... You ask a general question and expect exacting answers ... I'm running ONE 180 amp alternator from Ohio Generators and 2250 watts , with a system that hits the mid 150's on the new meter (was high on the old meter)
