In-Dash Navigation Question
« on: May 31, 2007, 04:04:30 AM »

OK, so I am thinking about getting the Pioneer AVIC-N3 in dash DVD/Navigation for my 2000 Sebring LXi.  The unit has a 6.5" flip-out screen, and I'm concerned about the shifter being in the way of the screen when opening/closing.  Does anyone have a flip out screen installed on a 95-00 Sebring?  Also, the stock head unit is a DIN and a Half, while the AVIC-N3 is a Single DIN head unit.  Can anyone provide some advice/info on whether this would be a good route to go as far as navigation goes or if this would require a lot of work to install?

It will fit you just cannot open the screen in park (it'll hit the shifter) some people have went to aftermarket shifters so they are shorter to clear ...
personally I'd swap to the eclipse console it gives a better tilt that clears the shifter ... and since it's a double din you can mount another din dvd or whatever under it ...

I have the N1 (same thing hardware wise I think) and I have an eclipse console in my... eclipse... in the top slot it just clears the shifter.  I have  a 5spd though.  I would suggest steering away from it though.  I have sent mine in for warranty repair on the screen twice and it still doesn't work correctly.  I just sent in another Pioneer deck because it had a bad internal ground for the RCA's.  I am never buying a pioneer product ever again.  I am going back to Alpine.  Just my .02 cents.

ahem jbi ahem

any way i agree with nykon. i will use anything from pioneer except in dash dvd. nav. or anything of that sort. and to add to what bad venge said about after market shifters, WHERE CAN I GET ONE FOR AN AUTO, everione that i have seen is only for a round shaft. ours is more oval and elongated.

good fellas do you have an auto or manual tranny.??

and last the eclipse center console is definately better for that type of application. yes its still close bet the venge is just ridiculous. also the trim around the radio and hvac in the venge has that lip abouve the radio oppening that sticks to far out.

not whoring but pioneer makes  good speakers i have premier(the pioneer upbrand) subs which are really really good....now to topic if you look in http://asog.net/component/option,com_smf/Itemid,30/topic,2964.0 she has a flip out and the shifter(which is an auto you have an LXi) is all the way in L so the screen can make it out.
