the deal went through, Diamler IS mercedes it HAS sold chrysler to 12 prvt. investors hence"daimler-benz"
The deal is NOT finalized yet, and won't be until later this year.

DaimlerChrysler OWNS Mercedes. Mercedes does not, and never did, OWN Chrysler.

Daimler-Benz ceased to be when the Chrysler "merger" happened and the company was renamed "DaimlerChrysler AG."

DaimlerChrysler AG will be renamed "Daimler AG" when the deal is finalized.

Chrysler Group and Chrysler Financial was sold to Cerberus, a private investor group. Not 12 private investors.

Cerberus will create "Chrysler Holdings LLC", under which there will be "Chrysler Corporation LLC" and "Chrysler Financial LLC."

Daimler retains 19.9% ownership of the new Chrysler, primarily to facilitate the existing contracts and projects between the two companies (purchasing functions, some R&D, and some vehicles like Sprinter.)

No Chrysler has been sold its been split up to different companies(cerebus just has most of it) to help its liabilities be a little easier on the investors. It is still in limbo though with what the companies will do from here on out just read a little, Moror Trend has a small section on it in the book. It doesnt look to bad though apparently Chrysler will be ok as long as everyone talks and gets things right this could be the best thing to happen to Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep since the hemi revival i expect lots of new nice cars to come of this....in other news (read Opinion) I think ford will slowly die in the next 15 years unless some REAL changes happen, nothing they offer is all that exciting not even the new mustangs especially facing the challenger and camaro those cars are S W E E T

hey calm down there is no need to be rude, matt has some good points but the truth is is that Diamler owns many companies they are like GM which has GMC, Chevy, Pontiac, Hummer, and a few more. They sold Chrysler since it was not making money they were losing money on the brand, they sold it in chuncks to a few different companies to split the hardships of Chryslers debts, no one company would take on a failing brand with a huge ammount of debt. lets just hope that the companies involved are willing to talk and work together to get chryler where it needs to be....which means the termination of the sbring and avenger sedans first and formost!!!!
