I'm pulling the CEL code for Multiple Engine Misfire. I took out one of the spark plugs, grounded it and cranked it, no spark. I've replaced the plugs and wires, still no spark. I know i'm looking at crank sensor, coil pack, or computer. The cars been sitting for about 4 years and hasn't been started. My first question is will a coil off of a 98 Neon SOHC work(because I can get my hands on one from a running car) and the second is which part do I start with?

same coil it will work first I hope you have fresh gas in the tank second after 4 years you may have severe corrosion on the harness remove the crank sensor clean it clean the connector, do the same thing with the cam sensor and tps too you could disconnect the computer and clean it well buy some electronic contact cleaner and spray generously Alain

The gas tank sat empty with Sea Foam in it as with the cylinders. I'll try the contact cleaner in the morning, cross my fingers and hope

Reason it sat so long, 132 mph in a 35. Being 18 and putting a 347 stroker in a Pinto isn't a good idea. The battery was taken out and used for something else. I have a brand new yellow top Optima, hopefully it doesn't do like some of them do I guess its actually sat for 6 years, eek. What components are you suggesting to try>?

So the wires coming out of the coil on the drivers side are not input wires to the coil?

WAIT i mis read your last post im sorry. test all components of the electrical system 1 by 1 starting from the spark plugs. when you get to the first part that shows life then go to the part right before it and replace it. if that was the only problem then it should start right up. if not repeat the process and hope that you dont get as far the second time around cause then you have an even bigger problem. hope that helps. now that i think about it does it even TRY to turn over??

how can i put this. if you dont know wiring then its like one big effing maze that seems impossible to get out of. once you get the hang of it you realize its just one big loop with a couple of tangents here and there. ill try to look up the diagrams for our cars. wait mabe nykon can get it before me. hes got the resources and im more computer illiterate

I figured it out, wooot! I'm guessing a mouse had chewed throught the wire or something a little bit into the sleeve covering for the wiring harness by the computer.
