Blinking Check Engine with 12/43/43/55 code!?!?!?
« on: May 10, 2007, 08:35:02 PM »

Guys,

I’m getting a blinking “Check Engine” light and when I do the “key-dance” it’s giving me the following:

1 2 --- 43 --- 43 --- 55

I’ve thought for awhile now that I’m having a misfire. I’ve also smelled the “Egg” smell from my cats.

What is this I keep hearing about our EGR valve? Could it be something to do with that possibly?

What I’m planning on doing myself:
1.) Change out all the spark plugs
2.) Change the spark plug wires

SHOULD I REPLACE THE REAR (Hard to get to b/c of the upper plenum) FUEL INJECTORS while I’ve got
the upper plenum taken off???

How HARD is it to replace the Fuel Injectors in our cars? Does anyone here have a DIY on replacing the fuel injectors?

I have a 1996 2.5L

Any suggestions? I'm new @ working on this engine myself, so ANY help, would be a big deal for me. Thanks!!!

Thanks so much!

The codes point to your ignition, yes, but I would say that is also the reason for your misfire.  You don't need to replace the injectors.

I assume you looked up the codes?

Yah codes are at the top of the page.. And 55 Isn't a code, it means "end of codes"
