Hi, i recently got a 96 avenger from my uncle and it's burning oil. Can i get some possibilities of the problem and possible prices to fix, thx.

The most likely problem is bad or damaged oil control rings on the pistons.  If that is correct, it is not going to be cheap.

Does it burn at all rpm's, or just high?
How much is it burning? 
Did you just add oil, maybe you added too much?

Make sure the smoke is blue, is its another color it's most likely a fuel ratio issue.

If i idle it too long it burns alot of oil, took over a quart coming home from portland about 280 miles.

yeah, i've put about 1 and 3/4 quarts in since i got back, and today i checked and i'm a half low again.

Again did you check for leaking?It's very common for the head gasket to leak at the left rear corner of the head.Especially if the gasket is original.

OK.. it's BURNING OIL like fire.. not leaking.. lots of smoke smells like burning oil, looks like burning oil.. not leaking oil. but thx 4 the tips
