Air Filter Question
« on: December 15, 2005, 09:24:47 PM »

Ok guys, I could use some opinions here. I bought a drop in K&N panel filter for my Sebring. Then I started thinking, would it be better to use the panel, or to remove the stock air box and attach a cone K&N to the stock air intake tube? Seems like it would allow much more air flow, if the rear of the filter is the correct size to clamp on.

What do you experts think?  Huh

I believe a 3" K&N cone works (or any other aftermarket filter) there are problems with attaching it ,the tube is too weak to support the filter ...It's easier to just BUY an entire intake for the 95/99 eclipse n/a

I really didn't want to replace the entire intake. The only reason I bought a K&N filter to begin with was so that I didn't have to keep buying throw away filters. I can just clean the K&N.

I'll check prices on the intake. Thanks for the advice!

well, they are expensive filters. If you already purchased the drop in, I'd almost think of leaving it.

people have tested their cars before, and there really is not going to be any REAL difference with the cone. IF you go full cold-air, there may be a slight one, but except for a little more noise, there's only the psychological factor.

I don't think I got more than 2 or 3 more MPG with a cone, and I don't know if i got more HP. I never ran dynos.

so I'd say if you got the drop in, I might just stick with that.
