only if you lay it on to thick will it crack.  if smooth is what hes goin for, a very very thin layer of bondo should work just fine just dont try to build with it cause then it will def crack and you did all that work for nothing. fiberglass is the better option tho.

well, as of Bad Venge's post, i already had a 1/4" layer of bondo on it. should i take it off and start over with the fiberglass?

There is a section that i have to engrave. how hard is it to engrave fiberglass? should i just leave a small rectangular indention where i'm going to engrave and fill that in with body filler and then engrave THAT (example: Kinda like when they fill in a cavity at the dentist)? Or is there a relatively simple way of carving the fiber glass? I have a dremel if that helps.

Also, if I already have some autobody paint mixed, what can i do to it to make it hard as hell when it dries? is there a hard clear coat i can put on it? The paint is Ford Sonic Blue.

1/4 is WAY to thick ... one day you'll slam the door and the bondo will be laying on the seat ... So YES remove it ... a SKIN coat is OK but not near that thick ...

For your engraving cut it out of the stock panel then use fiberglass matting and push it down into the "holes" equally , then hit it with resin ...
OR if you want we cut the design out of foam and put it UNDER the matting then you get a raised logo ...

Not much you can do to harden paint

ok, i understand what ur trying to say- bondo is easier to engrave in, but fiberglass is more worth it. u can use the bondo as touch-up.

I have to go with Bad Venge on this.  It will be best to cut the pattern out of the door and push the FG into the holes and then resin it.

You can harden your clear.
