Output Speed Sensor Malfunction...
« on: December 15, 2005, 01:23:51 PM »

Anyone else familiar with P0720, P0702 & P0700 codes?

Symptoms = Speedo loses signal at random points during acceleration
= Random shifting problems usually in to and from second gear but has goofed at high RPM causing rev limiter
to engage while passing... EEEEEK!!!!

Any tricks with this sensor?  When it isn't acting up it seems to be running/accellerating much stronger as if recent tune up?  Otherwise i have the sensor and ready to install... thanks for the input!

Just make sure you buy a Chrysler Sensor,, I have had several folks by my shop who purchased
a aftermarket sensor from Auto Zone and it  worked for a couple of weeks and went bad..

Good advice. I went through 4 from auto zone once before i got a good one.

As far as your problem goes, im not much help. I hate the a604, and all 3 of them that i have went through.

P codes:

P0700 Transmission control system failure
P0702 Transmission control system electrical
P0720 Output speed sensor circuit malfunction

It could also be TCM wiring harness or the TCM.

Thanks for your replies!  I have located the problem... had the Tranny done at 160k (now @ 183500) and the bastards didn't reinstall the harness into its mount clips!!!   Angry

Clips on Output sensor has broken and caused the wires to chaf nearly bare shorting the circuit... a little electrical tape and elbow grease... good as new... be picky when you choose someone to do the work... it pays off in the end!!!
