I put an 01 stratus autostick TCM in my Sebring a while back, and I've had time to ponder and play with the speedo calibration problem. I've noticed that the speed governor still engages when the speedo reads ~135. This tells me that the ECU really believes that the car is traveling at that speed. Since the speedo was accurate before I changed the TCM, I can assume That means the speed calculation is being done on the TCM and not the ECU. what now? speed sensor.
I checked around, and the speed sensors between my sebring and the 01 stratus are different. Im wondering if the stratus sensor will fit in my car, and if not, if the signal can be modified for calibration.
Alain95, Im hoping you will have some input for me.

135 in KMh or mph ? speedo get it's info from the TCM on a A604 car in theory sensors could be swapped they are pretty much all the same and the a604 hasn't really changed from 1995 to 2005 tire size can play into the reading so also check if the stratus and the sebring have the same tire size
tcm could be recalibrated by a dealer or someone with a DRB-3 tool

Tire size is not the problem here. and i am talking about MPH. And when I say my speedo is off, i mean WAY off. when the speed governor kicks in at ~135MPH, in reality im only doing about 80MPH. First gear redlined reads about 60MPH.
You also did the autostick conversion right? did you have the dealer recal yours?

I can't autostick my car I have a 95 autostick works with 96 and up computer
with those details I could figure out the problem much better tire size could be a factor for fine tuning but I suspect the main probleme is an incompatible speed sensor from your 99 venge pinion angle/gear counts that could be too different between the sebring and 2g stratus trannies so far peoples who succeeded in autostick conversion all used a 1g 96-2000 stratus tcm
looks more and more like it needs a visit to drb-3

Thier is a item called the pinion factor, this is preset for each car alain is correct that all sensors are the same,, The difference lies in the car may of had a lower differential ration, different transfer gear ratio so when you put that in your car, it will run you trany but it goin to be set for ratio and tire size of the car you took it from,, Dealer ship can change the pinion factor but will they is a different story, best way to stay on track is get one out of the same model car..Roger Reynolds,, 604 quick change gears 604 race transmissions...rreynold@nemonet.com Im guessin its reading fast, you could solve your proublem with transfer gears if your close...
Im guessin its reading fast, you could solve your proublem with transfer gears if your close...
changing gears will make it worst he didn't touched the stock transmission
what I see is one TCM reading pulses from the speed sensor and according to a software made for another car, it thinks that the car go to speed X while running at speed Y
a quick fix would be to put back the old avenger/sebring tcm until you either have the 2g stratus reprogrammed or you buy a 1g stratus with autostick
it's possible that 2g stratus don't share the same final drive as 1g and avenger sebring I know that the a604 of the 2g neon has a final drive much lower for instance

Oops...I wen back and checked the reciept for my new TCM, and it is a 2000 stratus, sorry 'bout that. just checked the part numbers on the speed sensors, and they are the same. guess it's time to see the dealer! even if I cant get it corrected, eff them; at least autostick works good!
OK, i know its been a while, but im still dealing with this problem, only know I think I have solved it.
1. I had my girlfriend trail me, and we came up with the following info: when traveling 25mph, speedo reads 45mph when traveling 55mph, speedo reads 100mph
2. dealership told me pinion factor is correct for my tire size.
3. plugged old TCM back in and speedo works fine. but I want autostick, so thats not going to cut it lol.
4. using the above speed tests, determined that my speedo is off by a factor of about 1.8 (25mph*1.8= ~45mph and 55mph*1.8 =~100) So, i ran a couple formulas and found If I tell the dealership to set my tire size as though I have a 9.35inch rim, the problem should be corrected.
my question is, do you think the tcm will take that small of a rim size?
I didn't know that the autostick was even a possibilty on the a/s platform... What all would it take to do this and what kinda price range are we looking at? Advantages/Disadvantages?

it's not hard to do. only problem is the speedo reading.. i talked to a dealer here about it a while ago andthey wouldn't do it. they didn't understand what i was talking about either. but the question seems to be whether the pinion factor can be set arbitrarily, regardless of tire size..or if the pinion factor is a number that's basically pulled from a database relating to the various stock tire sizes. basically, i don't konw. http://aseclub.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=96204
Now that Ya'll are done...let me weigh in. Maybe this will get me off Newbie status if anyone is paying attention, LOL
What we have here is a Diamond Star Motors car/engine and electronics package mated to a Chrysler PCM/TCM package and transmission(f4ac1).
Going back to the dawn of the modern era for Chrysler (Daytona for example), a speed sensor was cable operated and as the cable turned it
the SS would open and close the circuit to the pcm 8 times per cable revolution. 1000 cable revs made one mile. During the same time
frame the convention at Mitsubishi was 4 "clicks" equalled one cable revolution. THe sensors got better, then were switched over to Hall effect
style, then eliminated and the software to generate the same frequency was written and placed in the TCM along with pinion factor to allow
minor changes to fine tune for tire size and axle ratio. By '95 the f4ac1 (mitsu name for a604) TCM had the old mitsu convention in it to
make it compatible with our mitsu speedometer clusters. The pcm even still monitors the same pin on its' connector for the same frequency
it always did back to the K car days.
This explains why you had almost a double reading on the car and why your max speed limiter was coming on. I saw the same thing early in 95 on a Talon.
Someone had used the early Neon flash equipment to flash the TCM on the Talon effectivley converting it to Chrysler speedo frequency. It would not allow
speed control around town because it thought you were already going over 85 which was the max it would set at.
This same car would go only about 65 (but the speedo told you 130) because it thought you were out on speed already.
This is going to require some power programming to make it fly. Can you use the tach nascar pit road style to gauge your speed?
