The key
« on: February 08, 2007, 01:15:31 PM »

When I bought this car a few months ago the only key I got was a copied key.  I knew it worked just fine in the ignition, but since it was in a garage I never saw the need to lock it.  Now I am finding that the key doesn't work in the door locks.  I haven't tried the trunk.  The guy at the dealership said the same key should work for all.  Is there any part of the anti-theft system or electrical door lock system that could cause this  Huh, or do I need to get a new key from the dealership.  Also, all the lock cylinders are origional.

It might be a valet key or a copy of the valet key.  I would go to the dealership, pay my $20 and get a key made, try all the locks and go from there.

i know when i got my car i got two keys with it. The regular one worked on all the door locks, trunk, ignition, and glovebox and the valet key only works in the doors and the ignition.  i would go to the dealer and get one made.  i had another one made at the dealer it was like $14.

screw paying for it. i'd go back to the dealer you bought it from and get them to make you a full-fledged key, at their expense since they were the du-masses that screwed up to begin with. i hate it when businesses try to make you pay for their mistake.

I just remembered that the key works in a glove compartment lock.  I forgot to try the trunk still Tongue.   In the doors its acts like it wants to move but it cant.  Its almost a really firm elastic feeling.... Huh

Key is probably cut wrong and is going in too far or not far enough.

same here, but i think my lock is screwed up. it sticks when it's cold out, but when it's nice and toasty the key will unlock it. now sure what that's all about??   Huh

um There is a little white lever on the inside of your trunk on the latch mechanism.  Play with it.  It might fix your problem.

It also might not.   Grin
