I am having problems with my oil pressure gauge. It doesn't idle at a low pressure, but once on the road the gauge doesn't perform like it used to. When I went to Castrol Syntec Blend & Mobil 1 filter it shot that pressure gauge activity way up. Hopefully all I have to do it replace my oil pressure sending unit and/or do a oil flush. What I don't know is: if they can get "lazy" and do just a half-@ss job, or do they just "go out" and stop working. I already bought the sending unit, so when I change it, I'm gonna flush it too. I always keep one eye on it. Just a reminder to not forget those things!

I just changed with castrol syntec blend and a Fram high mileage filter and now it idles below the line and shoots way up when I rev the engine. Maybe its got something to do with the oil?

i wouldnt talk about using fram filters on this site, everyone including me believes that their absolout $hit. stick to mopar or napa(wix)
I have never liked them either, but my intent was to put some fresh oil and a clean filter in and then change it again in two or three weeks. The last owner never took care of it..... . Its got a fram air filter in it too, but thats only until I get my CAI. I didn't wanna buy a k&n just to throw it out after a few weeks.
check page two for where i start to really contribute on the info. Anyone that tells you F*am is a good oil filter is either ignorant or getting a comission somehow.
lol. guess i need to finish reading the post before i go clicking on links, lol. shoulda known you'd do something like that, but i couldn't resist the url's name. too funny

i'm a peripheral visionary. i can see into the future, but way off to the side.
the poor postwhore souls....fram is fine for a couple weeks..unless another brand is cheaper...store brand? anyway, i dont think the two weeks are gonna rip his engine apart....
This post is not about oil filters or even the oil you use, it's about the oil sensors and pressure. I both the light and the gauge, and I'm having a problem with my oil pressure according to the gauge. The oil sending unit for the gauge is getting lazy and eventually going to go out, or I have major engine problems. We've had lots of bad weather recently so I can't go out to fix it.
I have exactly the opposite happening ... Full Synthetic "0" at Idle ... No CEL/ No Oil Light... Step on gas 3/4 Gauge pressure Synthetic Blend Mid gauge at Idle ... Step on gas 3/4 gauge
That's just it, I use Castrol Syntec Blend 5w30 & a Mobile 1 filter. The oil gauge idles at normal pressure according to my dash gauge. On the road accelerating and decelerating it moves real slow and doesn't ussually get to it's highway pressure position unless I've been diving a while.
same filter but switch to Mobil Clean 5000 10w-30 (it's what i use). It's also a blend but a better oil company. worth a shot and it'll probably cost less too.
I use a full synthetic and never really have a problem. It goes just below the mid line at idle and it goes about half way to a little more than half way when I hit the gas.
