3.0 liter
« on: January 20, 2007, 08:57:24 AM »

will the 3.0 liter eclipse engine be easially switched to our cars?  If so, will their tranny fit too?  It is the 6g72 engine.
Also, with a little more research, will the 3.8 liter 6g75 fit?  That would be awesome.  Thanks guys.

the 3.0 is a direct bolt in to OUR trannies (no need to swap trannies)

The only thing I'd worry about in doing an engine swap is the computer work & wiring.  I have concidered doing the upgrade too, but not sure yet.  Even if you do the swap, I don't think the 6G72 headers would fit on the back-side. People have put 6G72 headers on a 6G73 and the rear header would not fit.  And gas is never going to get cheaper,.......but who cares, right?

I don't know about the 6G75, but the 6G74, from what I've heard, has been put into an Avenger/Sebring.  Lot's of mods, cutting, chopping, jamming in-to-tight-fit spaces has to be done.  I have no idea what all is involved, and the engine is backwards of ours. I don't know if you turn it around or what.

The 6G72 is pretty much a direct swap. The 6G74 requires some more modification. Also the transmission is on the wrong side, for that 6G74 posted on ebay.

Yeah,.........what was it I said about the 6G74? I actually have that exact script printed out in a binder for the 3.0 swap, but don't have a garage or the money to do that swap right now.  Plus I kinda want a beater to drive while I'm working on the Avenger swap.

The 3.0 manual tranny is too big or our car, it won't fit. You'd have to cut all kinds out.  I guarantee more will say the same.  I asked about that once before.

The OTHER trouble with the 5 speed swap is COMPUTERS...Both the engine and tranny computers are different as well as all the sensors...It would require major rewiring (even if you can get it to fit)

Yes. Eclipse, plus a few others use the 3.0 6g72 motor.

or simply go extreme and do a Galant vr4 swap with a 6a13 TT
fitting the engine in the avenger/sebring bay shouldn't be too hard

what about the transmission for the 6a13

what about it ?

let me guest  ... NO it doesn't fit and NO it's not a solution for a 5 speed swap

6a serie are using the same transmissions as the 4g engines
