awww... Now see.. brownie points...lol.  Maybe I'll stay inside where it's warm and not go out in the snow storm.  If this is global warming I'd hate to see what it was like before it happened...lol.

Because global warming is a crock. When we all melt, someone can tell me i'm wrong. Until then, I'm blamming it on something a little less retarded.

I burnt myself yesterday on an exhaust.  I think I melted some of my skin.  Does that count as global warming?

Jill-

Old is all about abilities.  Are you driving poorly? Eating obsessive amounts of prunes?  Releasing bodily gases everywhere you go without thinking?  Do you refer to people that do the speed limit or a bit over as "Dangerously Fast Drivers"?

I didn't think so.

Global warming............I do personally believe that the world will be like in that movie "Waterworld", or preferably "Mad Max", or a backwards & twisted distant future of "The Planet of the Apes", where we will not spank the monkey,....the monkey will spank us.

ok. i've noticed some temp changes where i live. in the past 18 years of my working memory, the winters started out cold (average was around 20ish for this time of year) and have now become a little warmer (more around 40ish now). the summers were bearable and rarely reached higher than 95. I actually played outside in the summer heat and didn't suffer. Now they are closer to 100 at times and sometimes a little more. The climate I live in you notice it more because of the humidity. the most increases (+/-) i have noticed in the last 8 years.
Problems don't just go away or fix themselves. There is always a process that is involved that contains a solution. In order to sustain a habitat, there must be an equality, balance, or the habitat must produce more than what is consumed. Now this doesn't always apply to food. It can usually be applied to non renewable resources. If you run out of space for a species to habitat, that species must either expand the habitat or destroy itself. But what happens when you run out of space? If there is no space for your habitat, there is no space for that which sustains your habitat. Thus the balance is disturbed. If we destroy all of the flora that keeps the ozone layer "stocked", then the OL has no re-supplier and eventually dissapates. now this may not be in our lifetime, but it will eventually happen if safeguards and precautions are not put into place.
think of a juggler who is balancing a very long pole in his palm. it will wobble back and forth but as long as he concentrates and keeps it from going too far, it will never fall. Now if it does go too far, he loses his balance and the pole comes crashing down. It's never too early for prevention.
You change your oil in your car because you don't want it going too long on bad oil. You get gas before your tank hits empty (usually 99% of the time) because you want to prevent having to tow/repair the car. Same principles apply here.
My (grand)father died of cancer because he never took any preventative steps. He knew for 20 years that something was wrong with him yet he never had it checked out until it was almost time TO check out. I watched him waste away and die before my very eyes. This could have all been prevented and i would still have my (grand)father with me if he had simply gone to the doctor and had certain tests done 10 years ago. he had all that time to do it and never did.
Global warming in comparison is in Stage II of cancer. There is still plenty of time until it hits stage III. Stage III is iffy and Stage IV is sayonara.

"An ounce of prevention saves you a pound of trouble"-- someone.

please excuse the novels. some things are worth the work.

Have you ever noticed how when you see little kids they will jump into a freezing cold pool where you and I might not even want to put a toe into?  I seem to remember summers and winters to be a lot different now, but I think that has to do somewhat with what we can tolerate.  When I was a kid jumping into the creek, pond, lake, pool I would do it no problem and not find it cold.  Now I find it a lot colder while the youngins seem not to mind it at all.  I also think the world goes through natural cycles of its own.  What I do notice and see tho is the smog in the large cities.  I knew we were getting close to Windsor/Detroit, for instance, as you could smell and see it coming.  What I can't stand is the yuppies in the large cities wanting gas to spike to huge $ ammounts cause of course EVERYONE can take mass transit.  These people don't seem to know that mass transit isn't everywhere...every live in the middle of no where and have to take a car to work everyday?  And as for Redstars thing of running out of space, devils advocate can say well it was a good thing for his grandfather (and I lost a grandfather to cancer as well so don't take it the wrong way please) to pass as it brought the population down.  Maybe we shouldn't save peoples lives so we can get the population of the planet down.  We don't save them.. no more starving people as there will be enough food for everyone then... life expencecies will be lower so we don't have to worry about waste and all will be good again.  It's all how you look at things.  I mean it was -2F here when I went to bed last night.  Tho last year I don't think we got much below the 20's if that.  It was quite balmy all winter... last winter you could have thought Oh No Global Warming is coming, but this year I have over a foot of snow, with more to come and it's ZERO FERINHIEGHT out! (remember I come from Maryland where zero F isn't normal so here it's normal at times and I'm still not used to it..lol)  Where did my global warming go?  It's going to be this weather all week.  Even the 10 day forcast is looking very cold and snowy.  I dunno.. I just can't see the hype.  That pole flipping thing scares me to no end to the point Dave and I don't even talk about those things.

True Horsepower, don't worry you didn't offend me. I know that population bursts are almost out of control (this is my completely objective point of view guys. I do have a heart so don't think i'm ruthless if you read all of my post). I wish that the desire to procreate wasn't as strong as it is in some individuals. The amazing part is that it seems more prevalent in those that are less educated and back during the tribal or clan days would have been left for the animals to eat.

Woman: the guverment needs to be giving us poor folks a bigger break on these taxes. I cain't afford to feed my kids.
News Reporter: Ma'am, how many children do you have exactly?
Woman: well, I and Cletus jus had our 14th young'en.
News Reporter: And how much does your Husband bring home?
Woman: Oh, Cletus ain't my husband. He's just my boyfriend. He's currently in between jobs right now. He got laid off due to something about heisters aren't sposed to be compact or driven down to Earl's liqour.

That is the kind of "human" I would like to see removed from the population mass.

In my opinion, the water thing should actually be reversed (it was for me at least). When we are young our bodies are alot smaller thus less mass. As we grow into adulthood, we have more mass. A small ice cube melts quickly where as a large block of ice can take an entire day. the same goes for heat. A small glass of fresh brewed tea cools quicker than a large pitcher of fresh brewed tea.

Now this could be applied to global warming, "when you younger everything is colder or hotter than when you grow up", if it weren't for numbers and facts. As temps keep rising we are going to have more "tropical" waters for more El Ninos to be created, thus more hurricanes and storms.

Your water thing is like Mork from Ork then!  lmao.  They were born into old age and got younger as they got "older".

If you want to take things one step further what are we doing with natural selection then if we let sick people get better and ugly people get pretty?  Ugly weird people are breeding with the "good" bloodlines thus mudding up the gene pool.  Only the strong, healthy, smart should get through like in the wild, but with all the medical intervention that isn't happening anymore. (tho if this were true I wouldn't be here right now.)

From an objective stand point i believe there are alot of people alive today that shouldn't be or should've never been born but we as a people are too soft to admit that the only true way to destroy a disease is to isolate and destroy all traces of it. Unfortunately, ethics and the most effective solutions are almost always on opposite ends of the spectrum.

Hitler tried that as well.  It all depends on where you are standing I guess cause Hitler thought only the Arian (sp?) race should exist from what I remember of history (which was one of my worst subjects).  No real easy solution.
