The stock headlights on my 2000 Sebring pretty much suck, so I was asking AutoZone about the "bright white" Silverstars. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Also, the AutoZone tech recommended that I change my fog lamps to an amber color. He said that it would be more effective than switching to the Silverstars, and cheaper. Anyone know if this is also accurate?
I work @ Advance Auto Parts and we sell the Silverstar's and I don't like them that much. They are brighter but I put some in my fogs and they only lasted a year. I also had a guy come in the other day who had bought some about two months ago and both of his were burned out. I don't know if it was an installation error on his part or if they just suck. I went to circuit city and bought some Nokya bulbs for about $17 the only problem is that they are 100-watt bulbs so I can tell you from personal experience that you will need to replace your stock sockets with some high-temp. Advance has them for $10.88 a pair, I just used butt-connectors to install them. So you actually come out with about the same price; for what I feel is a better light. If you decide to go that route you may also want to put some dielectric grease in the high-temp sockets cuz when I didn't, I managed to burn up three of the high temp sockets.
i have heard the same with silverstars. they sometimes burn out quickly. i have had them in my car for two years and have had no problems. but two friends have each had one burn out within the first four months. i went with piaa fogs, they match well with the silverstars.
