sirius radio....has anyone had a problem?
« on: December 23, 2006, 02:03:58 AM »

ok i got the SIRIUS Sportster Replay radio.  i have the car kit and home kit. it works fine in the house.  i have been having problems with it in my car.  it will do it at random time it says antenna not detected and i know it is their.  i checked all the connections and their good, expect i found a little crack on the outside coating so i put electrical tape over it.  the crack was on the antenna wire.  do you think it could be that?

i just dont really get it because it works most of the times and then it just goes out.  when you look at the crack its not even all the way broke throught the wire.  its like its just a surface crack.  think that can make that not work right?  i just want to know a little more before i go and buy a new one.

its right by the plug were you would plug it into the back on the docking station.  its not anywhere where it got bent for a curve on under the trim. i wounder if they make new ends to put on the wire.  im sorta lost...so i might bring the wire into a place they sell sirius to see if they would know a little more.

so all it means is that sometimes it detects the antenna, sometimes it isnt, check ur connexion. take it out while having it connected and playing. if it happens while its out, try fiddling with the antenna connection, if it goes on/off while ur doing this, u have a bad connection. since there is a crack, it means the wire must have taken some kind of beating which may have damaged the inside. even if the crack didnt go all the way through.
