…or like a popping noise when letting off of acceleration..

I think you'll have that "popping noise" regardless with or without the pre-cat. All I did was install duel exhaust on my Avenger and I have it pretty much every time I let off the gas. The louder exhaust just amplified it. As for the rest of your questions, I'm not real sure. However, Sroufe7 seems to be pretty knowledgeable about this subject.

No sir.  those are toally different downpipes.

Might wana check out some 3G eclipse sites...I am pretty sure i've seen some performance ones for sale that would fit your car.

Thanks

hey scott, since it eliminates the pre-cats, what effect would this have on emissions? (im in ny an itz a bitch). the thing is, i removed the pre-cats from the stock manifold and ur downpipe got rid of the next one. so...am i in a fix for inspection? or will everything be fine.

If you still have the main converter on...you shouldn't have a problem.  All the pre-cats do is help out until the main cat is warmed up.

And for inspections you shouldn't have a problem.  Cause you can't even see the pre-cats anyway  Grin

make sure your cars warmed up before you take it to inspection

this is gonna sound completely stupid but, i'm used to it. exhaust is not my strong point yet.

ok
are there "downpipes" available for the 4 cyl?
or
would the 4 cyl benefit from a downpipe? if not then why?

plus what causes the popping noise at my muffler when i let off the pedal and cost while in gear.

I don't know of any performance downpipes for the 4 cylinder.

Could be from running a little rich...muffler getting bad.  hard to say.

there should be downpipes available, i dont know of any as i dont search for those..and scott only makes them for the V6,

they would have gains as the pre-cat would be removed. the gains would NOT be nearly as much as the v6 due to pipe setup.
it may not even really be worth it.
If you want V6 headers, contact redstar. he has INFORMATION leading to possibilities as he's working very hard at getting them.

isn't that back pressure? i'm pretty sure that's what the noise is. if someone else knows otherwise, please educate me.
