Scary day

ok so i get out of work at 8:30 am...real excited cuz the fuel line finally came an i can mess around w/ the bring for a bit. so anyway, i take the broken one off and installed the used one ...everything was perfect...the car was perfect the sound was perfect..quiet engine...thundering exhaust at a smooth rumble....big smile on my face. i mess around w/ the tb a bit...the tps is not attached..but i rev it a bit....sounds so good my eyes got teary. jump started it ...revved it and couldnt help the big grin on my face..so far..everythings fine. i figure i'd let it idle down the drive way and back....did that..no problem....only confirms my belief that i transformed this car into the demon called the black lightning. so anyway as i was backing up i was debating whether to push the pedal juuuust a lil...then decided against it (good thing! you will find out why in a bit) so going forward down the driveway i decided to do it...BIG MISTAKE!..remember my brake problem? i needed to pump up the brakes..didnt..and lo an behold NO BRAKES!...n i live in the city kinda..so from my driveway is right into the street..a really short steep driveway. THe beast lets loose w/ the brake pedal floored and i stared in horror as the car shoots like a bullit towards the main street! getting up to a bout 25-30 mph at high acceleration, w/ a steep driveway, NO wheels were on the ground.(i'll tell u how i figured this to be true). I whip the car to the left and thank goodness there was no traffic or pedestrians....that would have been one baaad day..especially since earlier i had wanted to wait till evening to fix the car and just do hw instead. so anyway the car turns and lands sideways facing left and i swore i had just broken every joint in my car. miraculously..nothing even moved! so anyway..i went to look at the muffler..cuz its low and leaving my driveway would definitely rip it off....it was perfectly connected...n i was like...those wheels could not have been on the ground...so anyway.i figured since i was in the road..i might as well test it....of course due to the tps not being connected...no gear changes..but that was fine..i was basically gonna go to this parking lot and test. everything went fine..got to the parking lot....and smart me figure..ok..that was weird..the car is fine...so i tapped it a lil bit. BAD IDEA! the car shoots off heading towards this other parking lot filled w/ cars...n im like...im done...cuz to the left was a bit of a gravel area and a ditch....well a steep drop to the highway. of course my foot is on the brake pedal and me being on no sleep in forever is panicked as hell. I swing the car left.....and no..that didnt stop it this time..just wheels skidding and gravel everywhere....and the car heading to the ditch..i swing back making figure eights and donuts while i try to recover something from my half dead brain as to how i could stop this madness....scared shitless that i was gonna die..i decided...well...too bad for my tranny, but im not gonna die for a transmission..so the transmission took the pain as i i slammed it in park and the car came to a stop leaving one sick dust cloud....i stood their for a second to regain control...didnt know what to do..then i decided i couldnt leave the car..but i didnt wanna drive it either...but i had to...slowly but surely..took it home...left it on the road next to my house as i didnt wanna go over the steep driveway and rip my exhaust out. for reference..its about 45 degrees..the angle of the driveway that is. so i leave the car there go pick up my paycheck and came back to threeeee parking violations...and was told that my car was almost towed...one for expired inspection, one for no plates...one for no registration...yeah in my rush and shock i forgot the car wasnt supposed to be on the road..i mean..i wouldnt even have left if i had remembered there wwerent any plates...good thing the tickets were just 30 each..not a problem....i left soon after to go to school...almost ran off the road couple times due to tiring...even though i had my pepsi. almost ran into the back of a pickup that was making a left turn right in front of a cop..i was staring at the cop car doing 68 in a 55 cuz i was already passed him by the time i saw him....looked around and the pickup had its signal on and im a few meters away..slam on my brakes and tires squeal ..the truck swung back to the right then left again im guessing cuz they didnt know what to do..i swerved right to avoid hitting them...while the cop i passed was making a left turn onto the road i was on..all this happened before 1pm....i dont know if i wanna go outside tomorrow. Embarrassed

Just a suggestion.  Next time instead of using PARK on your tranny.  Pull up on the little lever there next to your shifter.   Its called an E-brake for "Emergency".

 Grin

Just kidding, glad to hear things didn't turn out worse.  It would suck if you didn't have anything to race me in this summer.  Grin

I saw the novel and thought. Screw this.  But then it's you so I thought I respect you enough to read this.  Then I read it and stopped respecting you again!!  Grin  Hopefully your tranny isn't cooked.  I'm not sure if you should drive to my house.  Ever.  I have too much stuff for you to run into.

that was a good cliff hanger.

ok

rule 1: sleep before driving. Even if you have to take a nap in the sebring. a friend of mine ended up wondering why the interstate was upside down because he fell asleep at the wheel.

rule 2: get full coverage and keep all the reciepts for your car. lol.

glad you're not hurt. i was waiting for a heartbreak story considering the stratus........ you do remember the stratus right? life should never have bad re-runs just because thats all they play on tv.

i feel like i put a different engine..but we'll see the story when i get driving..
posted in 6 cylinder tech lol...anyway.

"thanks dt Wink. i COMPLETELY forgot about the e-brake....my shock was terrible..and i havent put the insurance on it yet (shows u how tired i was) but i told myself that when i put it on the road...it WILL have full coverage...not taking ANY chances w/ this baby..everything was sooo unpredictable..well for the most part....to think i kept telling my fiance..if ur brakes ever fail...USE THIS (pointing to the e brake)....then when push came to shove....ya kno what happened..thanks for readin tho..i wasnt sure anyone would due to the length...cuz unless its someone i "respect" enough....i would...an those ppl kno themselves some might be confused..but if ur confused...then i do. yeah..the stratus story..almost happened again..i better go pump up my brakes n switch over my insurance pronto...i have a question tho...my mom thinks i should buy a beater for about a grand..and then work on the bring..i dunno if a grand would set me back so much that i wont have the car ready in time for spring. i make say 1300/ month..and i have 800/ month in bills....i'll have an extra 2 k comin in at the end of jan. should i keep drivin my dad's car till then and buy the beater, or put the bring on the road since my dad's tellin me to get a car on the road. and work on it or something....something's telling me I should buy the beater( possibly a 96 lumina or monte carlo)

get the beater bro!!  its damn near impossible to work on a car thats on the road, trust me ive tried.  and unless you gotta be in some pimp $hit you dont need to spend a grand on it either.  i dont care what im in cause i know whats at home in the garage waitin patiently to come out and play. anyway, ive driven some pretty busted a$$ whips, ive never payed more than $750 for my beaters, i have something more important to spend my money on, then usually i can dump them off for exactly what i bought them for.  so look around a lil bit and you should be able to find somethin pretty cheap

Get the beater.  And get a nasty one that gets you bad looks.  The best part is having a beater and talking about what a badass car your "other" car is.  People won't believe you, then when it's done you rub it in their face.

That's what I did with my Probe Turbo.  It was priceless pulling into work and showing it off.

Nissan for the win.

I put my 82 Pulsar over 350k with no worries (I busted this one up.  I tore an oil line and it dried, then seized)
I put my 94 Sentra through hell and sold it at 179k
I had a 98 Maxima that lived past 200k and sold
