So i am finally getting "full custody" of my brothers 97 sebring lxi. i am immediatly looking at soem mods for it. i am looking at a short ram intake, but am having trouble finding one. i would like to stay away from a CAI, as buffalo has some wet weather. I am also looking at putting on a universal muffler(full catback later) and am wondering what brand sounds good, and if anyone has some sound clips. Srry for teh long post. later
What size engine? I've got the 2.5L Avenger with some Dynomax mufflers on it. Yes, mufflerS. As in 2. Of course mine is custom, but I think it sounds good. Not real loud at idle, but sound NICE when you put your foot into it. It has a nice, somewhat deep, tone to it—sounds super good in the colder winter months.
Don't ask me which Dynomax's I've got, b/c it has been a few years since I've had them put on and just don't remember—they may not even make those particular ones anymore. I will, however, describe them to ya incase that may help in any way. The muffler is a round, straight thru style. Some ppl may refer to them as race style mufflers, altho I don't think they are. Could be wrong tho. Hope that helps more than hurts.
cling, clang, clang… that's my 2cents

i'm a peripheral visionary. i can see into the future, but way off to the side.
....that sounded like three to me . anyway, i got flowmaster thunder....and boy it was worth ever red penny! i have a resonator and a pipe extending from it also. ...flowmasters make u sound like a sick v8...i honestly cannot tell the difference btw the way my car sounds and a cobra
Over my experiences I would get a full ram intake. The colder air gives so much more power and when the weather is wet you can always remove the extended tubing and hook the filter up short ram style.

...i have a cai..i dont have to remove it for rain..its pretty safe where it is...just direct the cold air through tube..im gonna do a cold air shorty...
I've seen tons of members hydrolock their motors ....Like I said not really worth the risk ... Hydrolock=water sucked into the motor, normally DESTROYING the motor ,I've even seen several do it with the bypass valves installed
