So i am finally getting "full custody" of my brothers 97 sebring lxi.  i am immediatly looking at soem mods for it.  i am looking at a short ram intake, but am having trouble finding one.  i would like to stay away from a CAI, as buffalo has some wet weather.  I am also looking at putting on a universal muffler(full catback later) and am wondering what brand sounds good, and if anyone has some sound clips.  Srry for teh long post.  later

Congrats Brain!

What size engine? I've got the 2.5L Avenger with some Dynomax mufflers on it. Yes, mufflerS. As in 2. Of course mine is custom, but I think it sounds good. Not real loud at idle, but sound NICE when you put your foot into it. It has a nice, somewhat deep, tone to it—sounds super good in the colder winter months.

Don't ask me which Dynomax's I've got, b/c it has been a few years since I've had them put on and just don't remember—they may not even make those particular ones anymore. I will, however, describe them to ya incase that may help in any way. The muffler is a round, straight thru style. Some ppl may refer to them as race style mufflers, altho I don't think they are. Could be wrong tho. Hope that helps more than hurts.

cling, clang, clang… that's my 2cents  Cool

Over my experiences I would get a full ram intake. The colder air gives so much more power and when the weather is wet you can always remove the extended tubing and hook the filter up short ram style.

I've seen tons of members hydrolock their motors ....Like I said not really worth the risk ...
Hydrolock=water sucked into the motor, normally DESTROYING the motor ,I've even seen several do it with the bypass valves installed

I have never had trouble with my cai.  I have had it on for about 2 years.  In kentucky, there is alot of rain and flooding, but no problems.

You just need the right splash guards, I never had any trouble with my CAI on my previous car either and I had it on for the rainy season.
