Power Door Locks Problem
« on: November 26, 2006, 05:56:51 PM »

Ok I think I found out why my power door locks arent working but I need some help to make sure and to fix it.  Well my key cylinder on the drivers door had been pushed in the door when I bought the car and it was getting old to have to always unlock the doors from the passenger side.  My power door locks had not been working but when i pushed lock on them only the drivers door would lock.  When  I took off the door panel to put the key cylinder back in place I noticed this weird plastic thing with wires attached to it that look liked it had something to do with the power locks, if someone could let me know how to get that thing on and working i would be grateful, thanks

That little plastic thing is part of the factory security system.  It should just clip back on the back of the lock cylinder.  It hopefully will fix the problem.  I believe that it unlocks all the doors when you unlock the drivers side door with the key.

I kinda tried to get it on but it didnt seem like it fit right, are you supposed to put it on the cylinder before putting the cylinder in the handle or after, is there a certain direction its supposed to go on or something???

people keep sayings its part of factory security system, i just bought the car and all it came with is a single key, does this mean that the car came with a keyless entry remote?Huh if so is it possible to buy a new one and program it to work with the car, I have also changed out the ECU does that matter??? thanks for the help

alright i put the clip back on to the key cylinder and nothing changed, I checked the passenger door and it was off that one too, but the clips on it were broken so I couldnt put it back on, it looks like a simple wire harness so I guess I will just go buy a new one for it,  HOWEVER, I dont think that is the problem it looks like the door lock actuators just dont work, I dont know how I can tell or not, but they dont move at all, so i guess I need to take a trip to the junk yard

Oh and my car is a Dodge Avenger not a sebring so the lx thing doesnt apply, but I know the ES came factory, but mine is not, but seing that it had those alarm wires I am assuming the chose that as an Option or somthing??? Does anybody know??
