Radio Install on Voyager
« on: November 05, 2006, 05:21:24 PM »

I know this isnt Avenger or Sebring related but thats ok.  My cousin had a radio installed in her van this weekend & the back speakers are not as loud as they should be, if they work at all.  She has the infinity system in it.  Now is there something different you have to hook up for them to work.  I am not sure if there is an amp in there or not but I was gonna go look at it today sometime & see if I can find out the problem.  Anything in particular I should look for?  Any info would be apprciated.

Checked that.  Its in the middle.  I looked at the wiring & listened to it & it almost sounds like the front & back speakers are wired backwards.  I had to look up the install guide & try again later in the week.  Thank Bad Venge.  Can always count on your opinion in the Audio Forum.  Smiley

even if they're wired backwards, it should still send the same amount of power to all four speakers. maybe ur rear speakers are blown...they'll still play..just really low and w/o bass.

there is basically a built in amp on the head unit itself, and with the stock system in the voyager there is an amp. that stock amp should have to be bypassed and there should have been a harness for it when she got the harness for the voyager. whenever i did work on the stock amplified systems we would always have to bypass that amp so i would have that checked out if i was you.

The rear speakers are still good.  I hooked them up to mine & they sounded perfect.  I just went to American & he told me I might need to bypass it.  Could the radio be too old to turn on the amp?  It is a like 2000 model.  I am gonna install a brand new radio in my moms so could that make a difference?  If I do end up having to bypass it, what would I all have to do?  Just splice into the speaker cables or something?  My car didnt have the Infinity System so I am kinda clueless on the subject.

I'm ASSUMING that the Amp does ALL speakers not just the REARS ... Did you connect the Remote Amp line on the head unit to the Factory harness???

What wire would that be?  I noticed there was a little like ring clip that was bent 90 degrees.  Would that be it?  I think I have that attached to the ground.  Sorry to be a pest but this can get confusing.   Huh Huh

It varies ... On the Venge /bring it's a White wire with black Silver dots that is the amp remote ... It normally matches up on the Aftermarket harness labeled Remote or Aux depending on brand

Well, there was no extra wire coming off the factory harness so I think it needs to be rewired.  What do I have to do now?  What is involved in this rewire of the amp?

Hmmm, after a little bit of research, it turns out the blue power antenna wire was for the amp power, not that antenna after all.  I feel kinda retarded for not thinking of that.   Undecided
