Paint job input
« on: November 01, 2006, 03:51:44 AM »

I am going to repaint my car this spring.  It's current color scheme is black & silver.  At first I wanted a single 24" bright metallic silver stripe on metallic black base.  The base color maybe : metallic black, metallic charcoal, or dark metallic gray, or gunmetal?  The stripe size maybe 24"? and bright metallic silver?  Anyones thoughts w/ thses colors and scheme?    ..........

Well I thought about that once, but my car is already factory black.  If it were silver (like I wish it were) I might do that.  I don't want to get too far from the factory color.

What about gunmetal base w/ 24" bright metallic silver stripe? metallic black base w/ bright metalic silver stripe? gloss black base w/ gunmetal stripe? gunmetal base w/ black stripe? What about accenting it w/ offset side mirrors & spoiler w/ second color tone. Spoiler & side mirrors would be same as stripe.  Done this on video games and the cars look great.

You say gunmetal base, black stripe, black mirrors, & black spoiler?
I'd have to think 'bout it.

But rims are bright polished silver, and I am doing a black vinyl brow & chrome letters on it.  I've got clear turns sigs & running lights.  I also have the original black "Avenger" print letters from the back, I was going to put them on the stripe under the middle brake light.  If the stripe was brighter than the letters, that would really accent them.

there is paint that glows, if i remember ill stop by the local paint shop and find out what it is for ya but its new so its expensive but you can also get it in some crazy colors and it looks nuts.

redstar, if you brought your alternate color onto your mirrors and spoiler, i think that would be cool.  also it would be a lil different than all those people who just slap stripes all over their cars. (no offence bringit, yours is on a different concept)

o i know..my mirrors are accented...i failed to mention that what u wanna do is keep it black..and accent it w/ silver, the contrast brings (no pun..really) out those lil things otherwise hidden. im still working on what im going to do as far as paint...im getting rid of my stripes kind of, but i will still have a black/silver contrast.

But those mirrors are plastic, wouldn't it be better to paint the ones you got or, go to salvage & get silver mirrors, or buy them online? You know I'm sure silver cars have silver plastic mirrors.  So wouldn't that be better than painting them? Wait....no, they wouldn't be metallic silver though.....

No, my car is black, and since my rims are polished silver I thought I might accent it w/ silver.  Unless someone knows where I can get 20LB gunmetal rims.....
