ok..i put this here and in the v6 area..i dont know what gets looked at more this or that.....so.....this morring when i stated my car it was fine, no noises. After class it was fine. Then i was going to go back to class, i started it up to let it warm up and there was a whining noise. I drove it for awile and it is still their. The sound is comming from the passerside of the motor. It sounds like it is belt driven nosie. I checked all the fluids and their good. The belts were replaced at 25000 and there is 50000 on it now. Any ideas what it could be? How many thousand miles do you replace the belts? i better not forget its the v6. Any ideas?? could it be the belts? i looked at them not to long ago and they looked ok

well usually if its a belt problem it would make the sound when the car is cold, not warm. i would check the power steering, from my expierence the whining noise usually means that the power steering is going. there are a few other options but thats the most common.
does a tensioner pulley ring a bell? when i put my ear close to the motor it is on the front side. by the a\c compressor. when listing to the power steering it sound fine. it make no noises when u move the wheel. i was down a checkers and they thought it could be a tensioner pulley. i dont know quite what it is yet. i know its on the front side of the motor, sounds like it is towards the middle.
