I had the venom 400 on my car for a year. Please read this post if you're considering buying it...
At first it worked great. Unfortunately, my car shifted sporadically for the first month. This is normal because you have to retrain your TCU and ECU to accept modified signals. After a month of shifting up and down (only happened on highways and up hills) it worked awesome. Floor it and you're flying. BUT... if your battery goes dead, you have to do it all over. After a year, I started to have problems. Mainly, driving to work one day, my car shifted to second and stayed in second. SO it went into limp mode, AND that was with the venom400 turned off! I took it to a dealer and they did multiple tests. They found out that the computer in my car, picked up some bad signals in the tps and map sensors (what the venom hooks up to) and threw the car into limp mode to protect itself. They disconnected it, and reset the computer and 5 months later and I still have NO PROBLEMS. So basically , what happened was : static electricity built up in the venom module, and traveled through the wires connected to the sensors and tripped limp mode. I talked to my father, who is a mechanic of 25 years and also races HIGH performance mustangs and fairlanes at the track. He said this: "just modify your TPS sensor." I was shocked because this mod is on ASOG AND ASEC. This mod has been around since the 70's he mentioned and it does the same thing as the venom, but you wont get bad signals from it, it's free, and you wont have to worry about it. So take it from me, my father, and DODGE mechanic..... Dont even think about the venom. it works great in older hondas and toyotas, that's about it. If you really want a chip buy the superchip icon.. you can get it here:
http://pf.stores.yahoo.net/raceicon.html . Also, I've heard other people post on here that it didn't even do anything for their venge. Mine is a 1998 avenger es with 2.5L v6 motor. It may work better on the 4 cylinder model, but I doubt it, since the ecu's are made in the same factory. Jet SUPERCHIPS dont work on our cars, but does wonders for trucks.... you may want to look into this:
http://www.sfxperformance.com/parts/AEM301900U.htm, but it's over 2grand! maybe you'd have some luck with the safc II? Don't know much about them. But the TPS mod is freaking free, so, you can spend the 300 bucks you would have spent on the venom on other mods, like UDP for a hundred bucks, trans cooler for 30 bucks, spend 40 bucks at a pawnshop for a dremel with bits and bore out your throttle body, port match the plenum, 90 bucks on wires, 150 bucks on an optima yellow top battery, get a better intake for a couple hundred, get sroufe7's downpipe and high flow cat for less than 240, bosal catback for 330, etc.... something to think about.
