I'm seeking advise about what kinda brake rotors to purchase. I'm not extremely savvy when it comes to mechanical stuff with vechicles, so you'll have to forgive my ignorance .
I drive a '95 Avenger ES and am in the market for some new rotors. I guess after putting 138,000 miles on the factory rotors, it is about time to replace 'em . Anyway, I'm thinking about upgrading to some slotted, or slotted/dimpled, rotors and am wondering if anyone has had any experience with—or has some knowledge about—them. I've done some research and have come to the conclusion cross-drilled is definitely not the way to go—due to the weakness of them. I would, however, like to get some slotted/dimpled rotors if, between y'all & more research, I don't come to realize they have potential for screwing up also. I'm currently looking at PowerSlot ProStop II & EBC Sport Rotors. If any of y'all have had any experience with these or have any other recommendations for some different rotors, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Powerslot is good. If you want slotted/dimpled ERT has a good deal on modified slotted brembos and pads, that is what I have on my Eclipse and I love them. The only thing about ERT is he is busy so it takes a while to get your things but well worth the wait.
Thanks for the advise Nykon. I was actually leaning a little more towards getting the Powerslot rotors. But as far as slotted vs. slotted/dimpled goes, what's your take on the two? I mean, have you had any experience with either one? (other than the ones you own) Do you recommend one over the other? I've done some research and haven't come across any thing really negative about the slotted/dimpled, and was thinking about getting some. However, if you have any conflicting experience/knowledge, or have seen anything on the web you think I may need to take a look at before doing so, please feel free to inform me. Thanks again, and I look forward to hearing back from you.

Theoretically, the extreme heat build up between the brake pad and the rotor causes gases to be released from the brake pad. The pad is then riding on this thin layer of gas and is not able to fully contact the rotor. You push harder on the brakes but even more gases are released and so the braking effectiveness is decreased. This is known as pad fade. A cross drilled or slotted rotor provides a channel for the gases to evacuate.
Be careful using drilled rotors since they may cause uneven brake pade wear and sometimes are prone to cracking (the drilling causes weakness in the rotor)Although I've been running crossdrilled since98
It should be mentioned by drilling the rotors, you will actually create less surface area to dissipate heat. Your mileage may vary with cross drilled rotors.
Other shops slot their rotors. This involves creating a groove (slot) into the rotor. The idea behind this modification is to allow an edge on the rotor for the brake pad to bite into. By slotting the rotors, you can ensure even brake pad wear as well. Theoretically the slotting of rotors would increase surface area, so you might be able to expect a cooler rotor.
IMHO, I upgrading your rotors may not be a worthwhile effort. I would only do so if you have a severe brake fade problem. Most street enthusiast driving does not punish the brakes hard enough.Although it does help prevent WARPING that we are famous for...
I bought slotted/drilled a few years back off ebay for like $140. I put them on over a year ago and I gotta say that my stopping power has greatly improved. You just have to be careful when you first put them on they have to "seat" themselves, so you have to drive a few miles and break really easy (long gradual stops lightly). You'll know when theyr'e seated because they'll stop making noise when you stop. They will make a small noise even after they're broken in (sounds kinda like a ship creeking). but my rotors, which are no names and come in 3 colors of your choice (gold, silver, black), still havent warped at all. They say you go through brakes more with these but I haven't noticed. Type in "avenger rotors" on ebay and look for the dude that has the three different colors. they rock. Or just upgrade to 3000gt brakes and rotors. Hope this helps.
ok, well, i know it's been a long time since i first posted this question, but i figured i'd update it now. i kinda forgot about it to be honest. i now have powerslot prostop (slotted/dimpled) brake rotors on my '95 avenger. i feel like they work great, and the look is pretty sweet too. i found a pretty good deal on the web, if anyone is in the market.
just wanted to let everyone know… cus i know y'all have been on the edge of your seats in anticipation

I have the same question, but Cadmium or Zinc? ERT offers a dimpled/slotted Zinc set w/ Hawk pads and they offer slotted Cadmium w/ EBC pads. Should I get Cadmium dimpled /slotted somewhere else? When I do this I want stainless brake lines too. I know that Cadmium is better, but is it worth it? Can you cryo-temper them too? Does anybody recommend cryo-tempering brake rotors?
www.raceconcepts.net sells some good dimpled/slotted rotors. Ive had mine for about 2 years and they have been great. raceconcepts use to give a 50% discount to ASOG members.....anyone know if that still stands?
Their website is much to vague, I want the details on these rotors when I buy them, so if someone asks I can know what I've got. I want as much info as possible, I'm not buying anything unless I know all info on the product.
