Tranny rebuild?
« on: October 13, 2006, 12:32:24 AM »

This probably belongs in the transmission section, but I wanted it to get as many views as possible so i put it here. If it needs to be moved go right ahead. As many of you already know, my tranny has crapped. I've got a guy that is gonna rebuild it. My first problem is I gotta get the tranny out of the car. I'm sure many of you have done it. Any info you can supply me with would be VERY appreciated. Second the guy says that a shift kit in the car is useless cuz It's computer controlled. I've had several people tell me otherwise on here and I'm beginning to second guess this guy, So my next question is how hard are these things to rebuild on your own? I REALLY want to do some tranny work and make this thing shift fast and hard and still maintain reliability and upgrade reliability would be good too, since these things suck. Any info you have on the A604 would be helpful. I know nothing of Automatic trannys or how they work so I kinda need a hand here. Thanks guys.

If you've got 1600 bucks this is supposed to be really good.

I had looked into it and I thought that was the way I was going to go, But somebody said that it takes FOREVER to get one. Plus I dont really have $1600. I was going to go ahead and do it, but I guess not anymore. I think I'm just gonna get it rebuilt with a shift kit. Thanx Dark.
