6 cylinder conversion
« on: October 15, 2006, 01:44:36 AM »

I have a 96 Avenger 4 cylinder 5 speed with 145000 miles and a tired engine that smokes and makes a lot of funny noises.  I would like to swap it out with one with fewer miles.  What are my options?

Can I easily swap to the 2.5L?  What about bigger like 3.0 or 3.5L?  Do I need to swap the trans as well?

Thanks
Jeff

So the 3.0 will bolt up to the 5 speed manual?  What year 3.0L will fit?  Is the 3.0L ECM compatible with the rest of the Avenger's electronics (ABS, instrument cluster, etc?)

Any info on the swap?

thanks

best option is to drop in another 2.0. the 6cyl swap has never been done with the 5speed. the only way it's remotely possible is to swap out the entire drivetrain from the 3.0 donor car. that's engine, transmission, wiring harness etc etc. not really possible and ain't worth it just for the 6cyl. ifyou want power put a new 2.0 in it and turbo it.
