Fog Lights
« on: October 12, 2006, 01:35:32 PM »

I have one out on my 98 Bring, and just have a couple questions.

Do these lights need to be completely replaced or just the bulb?  and-- Can we find OEM's anywhere or do we have to go aftermarket... if so, any suggestions??  Thanks!!

you can find some oem here and there on e-bay and on the forums. i seen them pop up once in a while. i went with aftermarket and the look pretty good cous i didnt put them in the original fog light holes. i brought them in closer. it make the car look more aggresive

Your OEM bulbs should be H3 bulbs. I so fricking STRONGLY recommend you use H3 55 watt bulbs ONLY!   I work at Advance Auto Parts and I've seen people come in with melted bulb harnesses and blown headlight switches because of using the 100 watt where they shouldn't be used.  DO NOT EVER USE APC BULBS!!!!!! They can cause the same problems. I had a 99 Venge that used H3's and they run around $7.97 per bulb. Sylvania is a pretty good company to go with.

He's right, Sylvania Silverstar's are great! I've got my whole front-end lit up with them.  Grin They cost about $20 a bulb though, but they're worth it.

the silverstarts are the best to go.  i put them in all my lights.  they cost a little more but they are well worth it.  i put them im my other car about a 1 1/2 years ago and they still work.

A bit of advice: Don't bother trying to remove the whole assembly to get at the bulb like your owner's manual suggests. It's far easier to just pull out the light from behind by getting under the car.  Dealing with rusted screws is not worth the hassle when you can twist out and unplug the burned out bulb much easier.
