LOL preview your posts before you post.  you need to put
[ img ] [/ img ]

Put the link between the center brackets and don't have any spaces.

Dammit I don't make people do things.  Sheesh.  You can use either the magnetic lasso or you can go to the filter menu and use the extract command.

Let me know if you need any help, I have gotten good at extracting things.

i'm not familiar with the extract command, but you can also use the pen tool to create points around what it is you want to cut out. select the convert point tool from the pen tool menu in the tool palette to click and drag out ankers from each point. after you have the ankers, you can use the convert point tool (or the direct select arrow) to manipulate the path to conform to what it is you are wanting to cut out. once you have the path around the object you wanna clip finished you can go to the paths palette and select the path, then convert to a selection. invert the selection and press the delete key (or backspace key if you use windows). make sure you have the background layer unlocked and an actual layer, otherwise the area you delete will be white instead of transparent. after that you can drag the object into another pic that you want it in or you can create some cool background for it, etc, etc.

that's just a real accurate (and time consuming) way of doing it. the magnetic lasso tool will usually work just fine, but for the purposes i usually need to cut objects out for i've gotta be a lot more accurate.

you'll learn a lot in the class, but even more by just using the application. least that's been my experience. hope this helps.
