Engine losing power, battery and anti-lock lights on Help desperate
« on: September 25, 2006, 04:57:04 PM »

 Cool
I have a 1996 Dodge Avenger that is losing power when driving, the battery light is on and the anti-lock brake light is on. I took it to the dealer twice, gas station and Auto Zone to try and fix this problem since March. Dealer replaced the battery, it didn't fix the problem. The next visit they changed the Crank Shaft Sensor. No problems since August. Now the problem is starting again. Any ideas? Is something draining the battery and wearing out this sensor? Help.

Battery light means, battery or alternator or computer.  If the alternator is overcharging it will start to fry out your electronics.  I'd take it in and have it tested.

Mod List.  Um WAY too many to fit on here.  But the engine can handle about 800HP

I had it tested today, no codes come up. The dealer said the battery is dead again (only 2 months old). Replaced it at no cost but I doubt if this fixed the problem. Could this be a exposed wire because I smelled what I thought to be an "electrical" smell at one point. Battery cable, wire harness?

if your alternator goes bad it can draw current and ground it from the battery when it sits.  It's connected directly to the battery without giong through the computer.  Pull the alternator and have it tested.
