anyone ever have any problems with the battery terminals collecting a lot of corrosion? i've never had it happen to me, until recently. the darn things just won't stop. everytime i clean 'em up, it just keeps coming back. it's gotten so bad that the metal bracket that holds the battery down is coated in corrosion now. i'm thinking about removing everything and taking some steel wool to it (repainting the metal bracket) and replacing the terminals. anyone have any other ideas/suggestions to help fix this problem? as i've mentioned, this is the first time this has happened to me in the roughly 8 years i've owned this car.

I don't really have any experience with something like that but have you check you battery levels? It might need a refill.

Could it be your battery is too old? Needs replacing?

mine was having the same problem, so i had this pencil sized grinder "dremel" brand. i use it for fine detailing and i grinded them down a bit till there was no corrosion, did the same thing to the brackets, now they work perfectly.

that battery isn't that old and it started doing it fairly quick after i got the darn thing also. not really sure why, b/c it's never done that with any other batteries i've bought. wonder if it has something to do with the battery itself? is there such thing as getting a bad battery? (i guess you can get a bad battery, you can get a bad pretty much anything, huh)

JusBringIt, thanks for the info. i'll give that a try when i get a chance to take care of this lil problem. did you repaint your bracket? i'm thinking about just going over it with some rustolium flat black after i get the corrosion off. i need to do my wiper blade arms too.

This will sound weird but you can also soak them in Coca Cola overnight and then rinse them off really well with water. That will get rid of all the corrosion.

Get a terminal cleaner and go to town ...Go to the parts store and buy some anticorrosion pads They are red/Green Around $2.00....install those tighten the terminals and apply a light coat of petrolium jelly

Paint the bracket ...I used the spray plastic coating (for tool handles)

i havent painted as im doing a lot of engine work..so that will come later..im boring out my manifold...just took it out tonight and puttin the grinder to it. ill do the tb and work on the butterfly..my manifold is bored out to sixty two mm so that should be pretty significant....

actually, that doesn't sound weird at all. Coke can do some amazing things, like polish chrome and clean numerous things. kinda makes ya wonder what it does to your digestive system, huh.

Bad Venge, if i'm not mistaken i've already got the anticorrosion pads on there. what's weird is the terminals themselves aren't really that corroded, it's the metal around them (like the battery posts and nuts, etc). i'll def keep the petrolium jelly thing in mind tho. thanks!
