It has been said once and will be said again I am sure. If you have to ask you aren't ready for a turbo. But thats ok, asking is the first step to learning so you are ready for a turbo. Read up on them. There is a book called Maximum Boost by Corky Bell, that is a great place to start. Then I also suggest going to www.2gnt.com and read read read read read, don't ask questions cause you will just get flamed for not using the search function, so... use the search function. I have done about a years worth of research and now am just starting to get the stuff for my turbo (that WRX punk will be my first kill!! muahaha!) and hope to have it done by next summer.
You can go the buy the kit way (I am going to do that actually and replace all the crap parts that come with it) but you still need to know a lot of stuff for tuning and maintaining. Good luck and unlike 2gnt feel free to ask questions here.

If you have the extra cash. I found the best way to learn about the turbos is with a factory turbo car. If you can pick one up cheap go for it. There are PLENTY of cars that are older that come with factory turbos. One pretty reliable one is the Ford Probe GT from 89-92 I think.

Mod List. Um WAY too many to fit on here. But the engine can handle about 800HP
well i am only 18 (woo youth) and getting into college this fall, so i will not have extra $$ on my side
i have my venge for a year now and i love the car, its a really fun car, if anything needs to be done i fix it myself (timing belt was the major bitch!!) ....but ~130hp sometimes is not enough.... i have plans to put better exhaust (mmm magnaflow) and maybe cold air intake (for better engine sound), but turbo just crossed my mind after looking on Cardomain.com. The location of the header is just perfect for turbo install, so i just wanted some feed back from you fellas.... maybe put turbo in future
My suggestion is to test drive a car with a turbo, something like a Mitsubishi Evo. That will give you a good idea on how it feels......which will probably make you want to buy one that much more.
just to test drive the evo (if they let an 18 year old) he'd have to put money down and stuff like that. i talked to a guy at the mitsu dealer and he said that people that buy car's like evo's and sti's want the lowest mileage possible so they require money down just to drive it so they know your serious about buying it. basically just so they don't have tons of people taking evo's out on test drives and beating the hell out of them. but if he wants to turbo his avenger why would he test drive the evo? lol go drive an eclipse gs-t or something IMO.

I would suggest finding someone that has a i4 turbo Sebring/Avenger or Eclipse. This will give you a more accurate feel if you put a turbo on yours. If you test drive an evo and expect that your Avenger will behave the same, you'll probably be disappointed....unless you spend hella $$.
I had a 97 i4 Sebring with the Hahn kit with the front mount intercooler. It was pretty sweet even while I had fuel problems. Too bad it's on block now indefinitely...
If you're serious about the turbo and have a few grands, I would not waste money on other mods like a CAI, etc... They won't give you much of a difference in performance. If anything, go for the exhaust so that when you get your turbo, the exhaust won't hold you back.
I loved my Sebring when it was running...especially with the turbo. If you love your car now, just get the turbo and you'll want to be buried in it!
hahaha getting buried with it sounds scary... because the way i picture it, i already drive like 60mph on narrow and sharp ass roads... with turbo my family could literally bary me with the car
but yeah, sadly i dont have any friends that own a car with turbo... but exhaust idea sounds good, was planning on doing that soon
