Welcome to the board.

Do you have a check engine light? If so, I suggest having it scanned at Autozone (or similar parts store) for free. That will give a little more help on the problem, which could be one of a few.

ecm. sounds like ur fuel line is pumping more fuel than it needs to, sounds like faulty air sensor.

Consider the EGR again.  Mine had no CEL .  Dealer said EGR was fine and functioning, but when I suggested they replace it anyway, it fixed the problem.  I also had issues of sputtering, not handling any gas, stalling, and a "rich" smell when it sputtered.  Cranked hard after it stalled unless I let it sit a minute.

Also, when hooked up to Advance Auto's diagnostic scanner, it gave me an error saying it couldn't connect to the vehicle.  EGR isn't expensive, and from what I read on this forum, it's going to fail anyway, so you could start there.

fuel pump might be out of order, does ur gas run low often? check the filter also to make sure its working properly. also, im guessing ur fuel pump is stock ruling out the possibility of having a pump pushing more fuel than ur car needs. also, u never mentioned anything about ur intake setup so if its still factory, its possible u might have some unwanted guests in the airbox. If ur intake isnt stock, check the entire intake system to make sure its clog free, good luck.

i was thinking the fuel pump and or filter but then i thought wouldn't it do it all the time if it was that problem and not just when i have been driving it for a little while but i guess i could try it anyway and for the intake stock right now just got this car haven't had time to modify yet been trying to get it to run right first

check out your Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS)...it could be on the fritz and could cause the problem you're describing.

when things heat up, sensors may go off the computer doesnt read from the amount of air coming in for the first few minutes, but after the car warms up, thats when it starts to actually check and feed depending on what's coming in. it might sense something is wrong then, but since there is no initial reading, until it warms up, nothing will really seem wrong.

it wouldn't hurt to get your fuel pressure checked and change the fuel filter as stated.
have you had any oxygen sensors replaced lately? the heated sensors are used to determine the fuel input. i think the ecm uses a base fuel map for a certain amount of time after startup, after that it will directly read the sensors. i'd assume it's some sensor like that. possibly coolant temp, a fuel pump or injector.
not sure on the crank position sensor, that will typically shut the engine down altogether. ecm's rarely go bad IMO, but anything's possible.
