Has anyone removed the wiper arm (not wiper blade) from an Avenger? I've tried a wiper arm puller and gear puller but they won't go around the post. Thanks
Remove the rubber cap at the base, remove the pivot nut. Soak the crap out of it with WD-40, run your wipers a couple of times to work the WD-40 in. Then pull like a mad man by hand, using a rocking motion. You can do it, we are all "pullin" for ya.
I just tried the WD/40 and pulling like a mad man method and it didn't work. Even let the WD/40 soak for about 5 hours. It didn't move at all and I was worried I would break it. The dodge dealers must have a special tool. Any other methods out there? I'm sure a few of you have had the wiper arm off. I'm replacing the passenger side hood hinge, the old one is sloppy and makes the hood rattle. I can't get to the back bolt because of the plastic cover at the base of the windshield. I will try to pull on it again, if I don't get any other ideas. Maybe it will work this time. Thanks
I've had good luck putting a wood block under the arm to protect the plastic Then use a pry bar ...The metals are steel and aluminum and they corroded against each other... If you get them off be sure to apply never seize it'll make it easier next time
I tried again today and it came off. I found it easier to get a good grip by lifting the arm as when you change the wiper blades. Thanks for the advice Davedodger. I will put on some anti-sieze after I paint them. Thanks Bad Venge for that tip. For anyone trying this, let the WD/40 soak for a couple days and it will come off a bit easier.
