Need help replacing timing belt.
« on: August 17, 2006, 06:34:43 PM »

I broke my timing belt, and i have started replacing it. However, now ive taken everything off that needs to be removed. Now i am at the point where i just removed the bolt that holds on the crank shaft pulley, and i cannot remove the pulley. i have tapped it, i have used a two finger pulley puller, my chiltons manual recomended a three finger puller, but i dont have one. im gonna try to rent one and try that though. I cant take the crank shaft pulley off.  If anyone has had this problem or can help me with this. please, reply to this as soon as possible.

The bolt should only be backed out a little bit at a time.  You need to use the bolt as a solid point to set your removal tool on.  If you're just putting the remover on the pulley and pulling on the pulley it won't work.  If that made any sense at all.

I got the bolt out, and put it back in to use the three finger pulley tool. however as i was using the tool. the crankshaft pulley was not coming off. I was only stripping the hell out of the puller. I really dont know what to do now.
