Granddaughter always wanted a Sebring-after a couple of Eclipses and a 3000gt all with tranny problems thats all I needed. She ended up getting a 98 Sebring and guess what?
Yup-bad tranny!Shocker!! Anyway,the first thing I noticed was no speedo or tach working. It would hardly idle.When road testing it shifted fine for about a half mile and then it was like  putting it in neutral.After cooling a few minutes it moved again a few yards and quit. Fluid is up and VERY clean-no burnt smell at all.Thinking of TPS problem to start with,
probably a few more things as well.What do the solenoid packs and input/output sensors control?

check out my experience on my 97 avenger in limp mode at http://www.dodgeforums.com . transmission is prob fine. i just replaced the 3 relays that are grouped together on the firewall right by the brake fluid resevoir. the numbers on tops read 83159. good luck.

This may seem like a "duh" to you guts, but where are the input/output sensors located? So far all we have is a crappy Chiltons manual. I guess I need to find a service manual-looks like I may be using it a lot!!

finding out your trany issues are very difficutlt when your there  and person who can
figure it out, somewhere else,, Looking at your attempts so far I would advise you
to go ahead and drop the trany pan and see what is in their,,,fluid dont hav e to
be burnt to be full of contaminets,,, If a plant breaks or converter breaks, lots of
metal but not burnt clutches,,, If you have a clean pan it sounds like you may have
a solinoid pk bad however first and formost you need the speedo working...rreynold@nemonet.com 

to try and simplify what a solinid pk does , the solinoids have voltage all the time,, as
the computor feeds off of several different  sencors it will ground the solinoid on a
as needed basis,, how the solinoid  indirectly shifts the transmission is a transmission
can opperate with line presssures from 60 to over 300 psi,, oveiously a little10 amp
solinoid will not deal with this kind of pressure , however the solinoid in the off
position will bleed oil by   with a 80 thousands hole,, the oil going to the solinoid
is restricted with a 60 thousands hole their for no pressure will build up,, once
the solinoid is activated it shuts down this small bleed hole, pressure builds
up on the back side of the shift valve and makes it stroke forward directing oil to
the clutch pk the computor is calling for....rreynold@nemonet.com
