I'm back from a long break. If any of you remember RaVeN or something like taht from like 2 years ago.
Anyways, I'm back into the whole mind set that is modding the Venge, and my next step is gauges and a gauge pod. I'm pretty dead set of getting them but I'm a little hesitant on getting a mechanical oil pressure gauge. Anyone have a mechanical oil pressure gauge and could walk me thru the install, like where teh oil sender is (if that is even something i'm supossed to look for) and all that stuff... I know i really should have a Haynes manual, but it has always slipped my mind.

Well, I got a manual now (finally) but the thing is, the diagram in the picture doesn't match the engine :P:P (damn joo Haynes!)
I took a few snapshots under the engine in the general vicinity of the oil filter, where the manual said it should be... When I looked up in there there were 3 different plug thingys, no clue what is what. Take a look for yourselves:
That picture/text is backwards somewhere... "Below the exhaust manifold, on the Firewall side" makes no sense to me... My Haynes book says the sending unit is on the Back side on the transaxle end. Now, I realized that I took pics of the wrong side, but i think the one thats Farthest left in one of my pics could be the sending unit... Could anyone confirm this for me?
BTW, I have already ordered the mechanical gauge so I have to make this work.
You know, after looking at that I'm confused also. I jacked up the car went under from the passenger side and it was towards the drivers side between the block and firewall. A real PITA to get to. I never really got to see what it looked like or where it was, just felt around and got lucky. This was a couple of years ago so there is my disclaimer, but you can handle it. Sorry I could not be a little more precise

well... this is getting harder than I first thought it would be. I can't seem to find that damn sender, I mean, the one in the picture (2nd pic, farthest left) sounds like it might be the winner but its too damn hard to get to and I'm still not 100% that its the one.
Since i can't seem to confirm where the sending unit is, I was looking into possibly getting an Oil Filter Block Adapter. I see Greddy makes one and i'm sure it could help me later if I ever get to turboing my Venge. Only problem with this route is I have no idea what I'm looking for as an adapter. Greddy's description of the product says "fits most japanese engines" and that doesn't really help the 420A . My question is: Does anyone have an Oil Filter Block Adapter on their 420A and could tell me where they bought it? It would really help a lot.

Well i got all teh gauges up and running! My only problem is that the OP gauge is giving me weird readings (like 60 @ idle, goes down to bout 20-25 after a while). My thoughts are that there is air in the line. To my understanding of the oil pressure sending unit, there will always be air in that system. I believe that only when u start the car and it is running that there is pressure to the unit, (hence why your oil light is on just as u turn the key to start your car, and why the air will stay in those lines because the oil will drain back down to the pan.) Am I right to think this? and if I'm wrong does anyone know how to get those reading right?

Do you have an oil line going to your gauge??
If you are using the original oil pressure sending unit it will not work with the gauge. It is designed for a light. You will have to get an aftermarket sensor and install it somewhere else or get a sensor that will work for both. That may be the reason you are getting odd readings.
yep, oil line running to gauge... dam why oh why was i so stubborn to get the full sweep gauge over the partial sweep? (full sweep only offerd in mechanical) oh well, I guess i'll have to deal with it for now, least it looks bad ass
think an oil filter block adapter might solve this problem?
