Battery light

hey guys and girls been a long time since i've been on the board but i just picked up a 98 avenger 4 banger w/5spd. i just got it 2 days ago and i was driveing around today when the battery light poped on. i shut the car down and started it back up and the light went out. anyone ever had a similiar problem? any help would be greatly appreciated

The battery light is because your battery is reading low.  Which means the battery is getting old, or the alternator isn't charging as much as it should.
